Most of the minor races have similar portarts which differ only in collor. Only yhr Cardinoids, Dark Yor, and Snathai have unique portrates.

What do you mean? There's plenty of minor race portraits, and besides minor races don't really do anything. Also can't you just mod the minor races?

As TOV said you have more than 20 minor races but the fact that there are just 3 portraits really detracts me from this game.Considering the effort done by stardock to improve the game wouldn't be a bad idea to add some portraits for minor races
to make at least everyone of them more unique instead of being everyone the copy of another.
About modding i have no time, i have just a few time to play the game.

Yeah the total is 4 portraits also Jessuins have their own portrait.
What i want to emphasize is that so much effort is employed for ship part why not add some portrait to minor race which are just fixed images.
This thing is really detracting it was better if they just added 4 minor races instead of having a galaxy with all same aliens.

Ideas for minor races:
1)Protectorate:
A)Positives
-Other races consider the minor race a par of your race diplomatically in the sense of thinking about war, and making treaties, but they trade with the minor race independantly from you.
-Alien trade with the minor race benefits the major race who is the protector in the protectorate.
-Trade bonus when you trade with the minor race.
-You can request that they build ships for you(with your designs) and they but they also cost credits for each turn the contruction is taking place with each payment being the same, and the payment price being proportional to the actual cost of the vessel.

B)Negatives:
-If the minor race is adjacent to, or surrounded by another major races terratory, that race is more likely to attack you and the minor race.

C)Other:
-The Minor race has access to all your buildings, and all the parts on ships.

Requirements:
Minor Race is threatened by another race(IE: another race is a threat to them).
Alliance with you.
Alliance only with you at time of protectoration.
same ethical allignment or they are nuetral.


2)Assimilation:
Positive
The Minor Race all-but surrenders to you.
They remain independant on the diplomatic screen, and you can trade with them as if they were independant, but you control all their construction.
Other races also still trade with them seperately, and there is still a economic bonus for you, but they won't consider going to war more than usual.
Requirements:
Protectorate with you.
Trade with them.
Same ethical allignment or they are nuetral.

These are all the unique minor portrats in the game. There are a few more which are color variants of the bottom three, while the top three are specifically for Carinoids, Dark Yor, and Snathi respectively.

Ship parts are *significantly* cheaper in terms of art budget. Plus, the artist who did the race portrats for GC2 (Paul Warzecha) has since left Stardock for Ensemble Studios.
