if they have alot more techs then you. Everytime you take over the planet you get a tech. You basicly trading in citizins for techs.

i did that with a pq 1 planet lol ive never seen something that low again was this a glitch? i could only put one building on it

Well, no I don't think it would. You're killing your own citizens (repeatedly), you don't always get a free tech I think, and it's costly in ships and soldiers. It's not sustainable, especially since the AI is hardly likely to allow you to do it. Besides, if they're tech superior, you'll have a hard time invading anyway.

well what you could do is just use ships with single troop tranports, that way the planet will never have over 1000 people.
and so you wouldnt need to many ships just a few and hope to get a high tech

Who says I'll give away a planet with full pop?

1) I'll LIFT all but 1 citizen, and
2) give away the planet.
3) Invade immediately thereafter with special low cost troop transport, based on tiny hull with only 1 invasion module and 100 troops, and
4) repeat the process.

Cheesy as hell, but if that's the only option to get on pair with really advanced opponent...

given enuff cititzens anyone can defeat a tech superior. ( Can we say General Custer?) The indians simply did attrition damage. The general had the superior tech but alas it was to no avail. Sure some of the indians died but in the end they won.. Check your facts! The Indians in this battle had repeating rifles which had a faster fire rate than Custer's men's rifles (although they had superior range and accuracy). At short range the repeating rifle had the advantage.

You can give a planet to a civ you are at war with, which is what the O.P. is suggesting with this trick. You might even get something out of the trade as the he mentioned trying. You can still make deals with them, just don't expect a good deal no matter how quick your tongue is. (diplomacy... what else could I mean?)

Iztok had the right idea, you could limit your losses in citizens drastically by removing them before giving the planet back to your enemy and you can lower the cost of the transports you lose in the constant invasions by creating a fleet of disposable, 500 capacity, no engines or extra having transports. This repeated invasion could occur in a single turn and so your enemy wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Also, the problem of getting into a position where you can invade a planet of a technologically superior enemy can be solved by simply starting the cycle by giving them a planet of yours to begin with. Deep in your space, undefended with 1 (million) people left on it. Give them Mars, take it back, get a chance for a good tech, lather rinse repeat.

Fun to try? Probably.
Clever idea? Sure.
Cheesy? Absolutely.

I don't think this will work against the Dreadlords in the campaign. I don't think you can talk to the Dreadlords, so you can't give them anything. You would have to leave a border world undefended and hope they take it from you. Of course, while you are stealing tech from the Dreadlords by trading this border world, they are taking technology from you too.

Aye, doing this to the Dread Lords is suicide. Even if you managed to make it work, if they got logistics you're so very screwed.
