Save Games

Let's say I am running 1.0x and I update my GalCiv2 to 1.11.

But i have an old game that i am doing really well on, and don't want to start over with.

Is there a way to "optimize" that save game by re-saving it as something else?

I know that in 1.11 it does not take full advantage of the savegame "tweaks" when loading an old map.

But if i save it as something OTHER than whatever it was before (IE: Game 2.sav versus the old Game 1.sav)
will it then be optimized by the "new" save game code?

I thought that re-saving would just OVERWRITE the old save game with the "new" save game format but apparently not.

what you should do is finish playing the old game, THEN upgrade to the new version... if you need to, downgrade, finish the old game, then start playing...

You can get away with playing v1.10 game on 1.11 i think, but a 1.0x would be very problematic...

Hmm, I upgraded from 1.0 to 1.1 with no problem. Of course I missed new items in construction screen etc., but I was able to finish the game.
