I'll look into the clean boot option sometime in the future. Right now, my current system is functioning just fine, so I'll continue this configuration for the near future. Thank you for your help and information.

I changed my spacing as requested. Nothing changed. When I select Classic icons, all fences want to be two icons wide (they overflow the single width). I return to Medium Icons and they act in a normal manner.
My IconSpacing is -972 and IconVerticalSpacing is -1272 Hope this helps.
Here's the information requested: Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.4780) Fences Version 5.81 Any reason you're not updating to the latest Windows 10 v22H2 (OS Build 19045.4651)? I have the latest version of Windows 10 available. Have you tried rebooting the system and see if the issue goes away. The rebooting h
I guess I wasn't as clear as I should have been. When I select "classic" icons, I can't get a single column fence. If I select "medium" single columns is available, I'm using version 5.54 now, I'll update and report any changes.
The problem is solved. I don't know when it was changed, but I was in "classic icons". Selecting "Medium Icons" caused the problem to go away. If I select classic, it returns. If you need the rest of the data for trouble shooting, let me know. Otherwise, I'll consider my problem solved.
I'll provide the info requested for trouble shooting, but FYI when I switched from "Classic Icons" to "Medium Icons" the fences automatically resorted and allowed single column selection. I'll get back to you on the other info as soon as I can gather it.
Using Fences 5.54, Windows 10 Pro Build 19041. Fences will no longer allow me to store my desktop icons in a single column. My minimum is two columns which will allow me to store and reposition icons with automatic repositioning. Trying to use single column by dragging the fence outline, results in a clipped picture of the icons with no repositioning. Suggestions?
I can't find a fix or resolution for this problem. My Fences 5 has been working since it was updated from 4 and today all of my fences default to two columns. Resizing the fence by dragging the edges will cause the fence to resize to 2, 3 or more columns, but never a single column. Suggestions?
Thank you for that information. I had found those files a while back. I was hoping for a little more detail on the data storage map. I'll look into the file layout further. Thanks again for the data.
Thank you. I look forward to hearing what they might have to offer on the subject.
I want to be able to precisely control the width, height and location of my Fences. Is there any document that provides details on how the Fences 5 configuration files record these specific details. Any information on the subject would be appreciated.
Thank you Basj. I'll keep looking for their response.
I want to be able to set all of my fences to a specific with and height, and then locate them on a per screen / monitor basis. It's possible to do the mouse, but not precisely. I'm sure that fences save its data in an ini file in xml format. Is there any documentation on the labels used for specific parameters?
After reboot, or when trying to Enable Fences the following error occurs: Fences has detected that Explorer has not closed properly. As a precaution, Fencees has been temporarily disabled. To re-enable Fences, open Fences' Settings and choose "Enable Fences". I have run DISM and sfc with no errors. Anyone have any ideas of what to try to trouble shoot this error.
A further comment on my reply above. I see some of the information I'm looking for might be available in the information FAQ you cited. I'll review and see if any of my questions are already answered with regards to the layout data storage. JaK
Thanks for the info TP. I've been doing that. 1) the restore snapshot does not always work. 2) my question was regarding the potential of a command line, batch command, or PowerShell script I could use to "reset" the fences to a known configuration. I'm asking if there is information available on how the Snapshot stores the layout; .xml, .ini or config file; so I could implement a restore snapshot (drive the fences to a specific location and screen) wit
Thanks, AzDude; Looking forward to reading their ideas on the subject.
I use 4 monitors in Windows 10. The main is directly connected via a KVM to my HDMI port on my computer. The other three are driven via a USB -> HDMI adapter that can drive 4 monitors. I use three. When I use my KVM to switch computers, the primary screen responds immediately. The USB driven screens take a while to catch up. When I switch back to my primary computer with Fences, the fences are all squeezed onto the primary/main screen. So
Basj; I've been using that setting since the beginning. FYI, I also have the Snapping/spacing item selected as well as Layout snapshots. Is there a way to "dump" the snapshot file and see how the data is stored? The picture shows exactly what it was and what I want it to be after the restoration, but that is not what I get after restoring. All fences remain on my primary screen.
I'm having a similar problem with Fences 4.0.0.3, but my problem relates to a multiple screen configuration. I have a KVM for my primary screen and use a USB -> HDMI x 4 attachment for my other three screens. When I switch via KVM to another computer and return, naturally Fences has adjusted the four-screen display to the single display. My problem is that using Configure Fences to restore the screen icons with a layout snapshot, I get no change in my layout. It's
