I managed to fix my problem. Impulse was using Internet Explorer proxy information by default. I fixed this by opening Internet Explorer and changing the privacy setting in "Internet Options" in the Tools menu to "accept all cookies". This allowed Impulse to run the game with no problems. Thank you, I'll do that asap. But just to clarify, I have tried playing it directly from Windows and not Impulse, but regardless of how I open it I get the same result. I would have been satisfied with the single-player mode while waiting for activation, but if I can avoid that delay that would be even better.

I created my Impulse and Stardock account and entered my serial number, which I have verified is entered using the "Verify Registration" option when right-clicking the product in the My Games tab on Impulse.
