Objectdock disappears

Crash? I dunno.

Hey there,
I've recently taken to messing with my user interface, playing with thlings like litestep, and I decided I can live with one single interface change, and all I need is objectdock. However, I've noticed the program just closes itself. I'm wondering if there is a log I can check for possible crashes or if there is a known fix for something like this. The dock just isn't there anymore, no error window. I use Windows Task Manager to run the exe again and it comes back just fine. I'm wondering if a program like cacheman that monitors RAM usage would have anything to do with it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Phluxed,

Unload ObjectDock (make sure it is not running in Task Manager as well).

Then try clearing the ObjectDock cache by deleting the ObjectDock folder in "C\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder.

You will need to have the option "Show hidden files and folders" selected to see the Local Setting folder (Tools > Folder Options > View tab).

Note - you will want to save your theme before deleting cache, as this will force ObjectDock to load with the default startup settings.

If you are using the System Tray functions of ObjectDock or docklets, you will want to have the "sdmcp.exe" enabled (which you can do by copying the file to your start-up folder - just run a search for it).

You might try setting all the GUI options you want in other programs first, then start ObjectDock after clearing the cache. If ObjectDock then crashes, you are most likely looking at either a conflict with another program or a corrupt install of ObjectDock.

If it loads and works using the default startup settings, but then crashes after loading your theme and you are using a number of docklets, try removing docklets from the dock one at a time to find the culprit.

I did what you suggested, and it still just disappears with my theme, but I don't see how it could be a docklet, nothing's really being used. Is there a list of conflicting programs I could find? Or a way to find out what is causing it to just disappear?

but I don't see how it could be a docklet,

Some docklets cause strange problems for some people. This happens often enough to warrant a "Temporarily disable docklets" setting in the latest release. ObjectDock Properties > General > Advanced Options.. (this is available in the Plus version, not sure about the free version) Are you running any?

I was running tray, but because I have the pro version I have created 3 seperate docks now, one tray, one task and one for all my programs. However, now when I enter a warcraft game, and come out, the computer does not reload my desktop. The monitor light flashes and I have to hard reboot the machine.
