Icon spacing wrong after Windows 11 start

Layout management 'Use same spacing inside and outside of Fence groups' seems to be ignored after Windows start

The latest Fence version introduced this problem: After Windows start then Icons are spaced so that icons on the second line in a group becomes invisible.

The Layout Management menu has 'Keep groups spaced 0 pixels', and 'Use same spacing inside and outside of Fence groups' is checked.

The circumvention is to uncheck and check 'Use same spacing inside and outside of Fence groups'.

Fences version is 6.46

Windows version is 11 Home 25H2

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Perhaps something went wrong when installing the update. Please try, uninstall Fences, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

If the issue still appear, we need more information.

  1. Windows 11 25H2 full OS Build number. Use Winver.exe to get this number.
  2. Post screenshots or video of your issue might help us understand your issue better.

Thank you,

I am running into the exact same issue on Fences 6.46.

Every time Windows starts, the spacing breaks and hides my second-line icons. Unchecking and re-checking 'Use same spacing inside and outside of Fence groups' fixes it temporarily, but it's annoying to do this on every boot

Hopefully, this gets patched soon

Strangely, I can't reproduce this issue on my system. Please try my suggestion above in my Reply#1. Report back with information requested.

Reinstall Fances 6.46 seems to have fixed the issue. One weird thing though, unchecking 'Use same spacing inside and outside of Fence groups' actually make the icons sit tighter, which is fine. I assume that means that the 'Keep groups spaced 0 pixels' is now the controlling factor.

Hi Frayyack, would you mind flipping on advanced logging and sending us in a log? We’d like to take a look.

(1) “Enable advanced logging” from Troubleshooting menu in About

(2) Reboot to reproduce issue

(3) “Fix” the issue with checkbox as stated

(4) “Create error report” from that same menu.

Hope to get you a build to test possible fixed along with the info. Thank you!
