I'm running the trial version of Multiplicty4. I've been using a KVM Hardware switch made in China on Amazon that doesn't work reliably. I was excited to try this, but, it's not working out so far. I'm leaning toward buying a subscription to Remote PC. I have (4) laptops with (1) 32" LG Monitor. I don't care about mouse and keyboard. I use a wireless Logitech MX Anywhere Mouse and a Logitech wireless keyboard. I only care about switching the laptops between the (1) LG 32" Monitor / full screen.
I am able to set up my Dell as a primary and my Lenovo as a secondary. I am able to connect to the Lenovo, but, after sourcing the internet and your forums, nothing works to transfer back to the primary except to shut down the secondary computer. I set up hot keys, I tried key combinations like CTRL/Q, etc. that I found in forums. Nothing works. I haven't gotten to the next level to add 2-more laptops.
Why doesn't this work seamlessly? Also, it seems Multiplicity does not have a feature where I can change switch between computers unless the same computer is the primary and it is always turned on. That's a feature I want. On my hardware KVM (which doesn't work reliably) I have (4) computers connected and I can switch to any of them even if 2 computers are turned off.
So, even accepting if that feature is not an option in Multiplicity, how do I fix it, so, I can go back to my primary computer? Again, I have (2) computers connected. I go from the primary to the secondary. Works great full screen, but, nothing works to return to the primary computer.
With remote PC, I can load (4) computers and give them all the ability to switch between each other even if 1 or 2 are turned off and I can go full screen or re-size the screen and use the mouse and keyboard from whichever computer I want to control the other computers without having the need to make 1 of them a primary and 1 a secondary.
Remote PC also allows you to share files between computers. We use it at work and I do it all the time when I am home. You just copy/paste and the other features like sound work, as well. I'm buying this new KVM solution for my personal home setup.
Look forward to your feedback. I want to make a decision quickly to dispose of this unreliable Chinese crap KVM hardware switch I got from Amazon.
Thank You.
