Distance/model size for appearance of 2D overlay for units

There used to be an option for this in Soase

Hey people,

is there an easy way to change the point where the 2D overlay appears? Cinematic mode removes them completely (and doesn’t stay on when you interact).

There used to be an option to show them all the time in Soase, which was brilliant. The 3D models also never disappeared. I would like to have the same option (aka always see both the 3D model and the 2D overlay).

Any ideas?

To be clear are you saying you basically want an option where the models dont convert to icons when zooming out?

I think he suggesting the option to have it stay always stay 3D or always stay as an icon.

I would prefer something akin to being able to select at what distance the conversion happens. And if you go all the way one way or the other it just always stays either 3D or 2D whichever you selected.

I often find myself zooming out just a little bit hoping to see a bigger picture and then it converts to icons and everything overlays and I just lose all context.

Yes, the context thing is very important. What I actually want is an option to always show BOTH the 3D models and overlay. That way the 3D models only disappear when zooming out far enough so they disappear behind the overlay (because the models get smaller while the overlay doesn't).

That way I have a fluid change between models and icons, which helps a lot with context but also with identifying ships correctly by their corresponding overlay.

In Soase we had that option and I just couldn't play without it.

EDIT: You know what, I am now convinced we DIDN’T have that option in Soase. I might have been thinking of Supreme Commander. Still it would be really great having that option.
