Hiya!
Thanks for creating this awesome game!
I feel there's one vital component of ship control missing though, which is the ability to set a ship's orientation in space. Given that each turret is simulated and has firing arcs, it feels very necessary to also be able to set which position a ship should settle into.
In my opinion the best way to do that would be the same way the Company of Heroes game-series does it, i.e., when you right-click to give a move order by clicking on a position in a gravity well, you can keep the mouse-button held down and drag the mouse in a direction --- leading to all of your ships moving to that position and then turning to face the direction you dragged the mouse in.
This would be hugely beneficial when you want a ship (or a whole fleet) to face a certain direction that you expect an attack to come from.
Currently, positioning a fleet within a gravity well (so that they're facing the phase lane from which I expect an attack to come from) involves multiple move orders and attempts to get my fleet to turn around properly. It's quite cumbersome, rarely works completely, and leads to the first seconds of my defense being "wasted", because despite knowing what direction the attack was coming from and preparing, I was at-best only able to position the fleet in such a way that the capital-ships still all have to turn around to face the enemy before they can bring their main guns to bear.
Thank you!
