After 10.9 hours in The Political Machine 2024, I now have an opinion!
To start, the inclusion of Primaries has kept me playing even longer than in TPM2020, and I don't mean in a bad way. In fact I find it really fun to play against multiple opponents in the game, there are so many combinations that it rarely gets old.
But, when I first opened the game and heard the new title screen music instead of the old, I did get a bit disappointed, because the title screen music from TPM2020 was so welcoming and kinda for me hyped up what I was about to play. The background music in the other sections are absolutely perfect though.
I also did not entirely understand the Political Action Cards until my 3rd playthrough of the primaries. In some ways I prefer the PACs, and in others the Ideology Trees.
The most major thing I wonder about is the third parties. In the 2024 election, it's likely that an independent may win some states on election day, and that independent is likely Robert F. Kennedy Jr. It would be very fun to have different parties in both Primaries and Presidential mode. Having different parties to run for the nomination of, and having different parties to attempt to win the presidency with would add a LOT more variety to the game. Imagine running as a custom candidate in the Green Party, or running as Cornell West or RFK Jr., or attempting to win the Libertarian nomination. Maybe also in the smaller parties having to manage obtaining ballot access.
But if none of that is added or at least intriguing, at least add Kennedy to the democratic side, he's nearly a major opponent in this election. He's more major than Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang but they're here.
One more thing I noticed, the logo in the UI and the logo in the back don't match up.
