Hi,
I have been using Start11 for a while now, originally v1 and across to v2. I am currently using v2.06 on Windows 11 version 23H2 22631.3235. My PC uses an i7 10700K with 32gb RAM, an RTX 3090Ti and several NVME M2 drives and operates at 4K resolution at 144hz.
I currently have the Windows 11 style menu enabled, utilising approximately 130-or-so icons across three groups (with about 100 icons on the first group), with each icon using a custom tile image set from a png file. All of the icons are also sized as 'absurd'.
Unfortunately, I have found that Start11's start menu is really quite slow and laggy. Opening up the start menu, scrolling through the icons on the group, or switching to other groups and back again, is not really slow, but is noticeably laggy and not very smooth. It's not a great user experience, on balance.
Is there something I am doing wrong, here? Is there anything I can do to improve the snappiness of the performance/ response of Start11? Or have I simply exceeded what it is capable of with my (admittedly possibly unusual) settings?
I really like the idea of Start11 - especially the customisation to have my Windows menu experience the way I want it to be. However if there isn't anything I can do to improve the response without giving up the choices the preferences allow me to make, then it's a shame but not really worth having at all?
I hope someone can help steer me in the right direction, please!
P.S. Has anyone figured out why Start11 also has such a long lag when new programs are installed, before they appear in the Start11 'All Programs' menu? In the standard Windows 11 menu they always appear immediately, but they do not appear in the Start 11 menu for at least twenty-or-so minutes, unless I either reboot my PC or restart the Explorer process. Not a big deal but inconvenient enough that I'd prefer it not to happen.
