It's not obvious in the video how you are using the keyboard modifier of course since I can't see your keyboard. I assume you are releasing the modifier (shift,ctrl, etc...) while still holding the left mouse button.

Also in my tests the group is not maximized however I will try that now.

Note: It does the same thing even maximized.

Bottom right corner of the screen, I have the Keystroke Visualizer to show when I am pressing/releasing keys/buttons. I followed your directions as listed

Odd enough I didn't see that in the first watch. What software do you use for recording?

Still does not play nice with Windowblinds skins that have custom sized borders. My skin has 1px bottom, left & right borders. Draws the Tabs bg on file explorer/outside explorer a few pixels outside of the frames as shown below.

Skins I have tested it with included with WB11:

Acrylic7 - Same results as above picture.

Corporate - Same results as above picture.

Diamond - Same results as above picture. But almost in the window frames. Just a small sliver of the line is rendered outside the border.

Echo - Same results as above picture.

Eva - Same results as above picture.

Ice - Same results as above picture.

Lantana - Same results as above picture, but the Tab bar in other applications fits to window size.

Luna - Same results as above picture.

Mac Classic - Same results as above picture.

Modern - Works as Intended

Percision - Same results as above picture.

The Captain - Same results as above picture.

Win8 - Same results as above picture. But almost in the window frames. Just a small sliver of the line is rendered outside the border.

Win8 Metro - Same results as above picture.

Windows Classic - Same results as above picture.

 

Other Skins:

Aero11 (Mine) - Works as Intended

There has to be some weird thing going on with how the rendering of that line/tab bar background.

*Side note, it would be nice if the tabs/tab background/buttons had windowblinds11 skinning functionality.

Well it also does it on a fresh windows 11 install with no other mods as well. So something is up with Groupy 2.11 beta. it should not be doing that on a newly installed OS. I am not on insider and its the latest release version. Something funky is going on. Here is it with do not replace tabs option. You can clearly see it sticking way far out from the edges. On my steam theme.

I still have issues with the drop target window as well as sizing problems. When resizing the group via a windows caption it works fine but resizing via the groupy dialog introduces lagged drawing.

The drop target window issue can be reproduced as follows. Make sure you are using one of the kbd modifiers (in my case I use shift +)

1. Press shift and then drag a window to the group. The drop target window will appear as well as a Faux tab showing the drop location.

2. Without releasing the mouse button release Shift (or whatever modifier you chose). Likely the faux tab will disappear but the drop target will not.

3. Move the ungrouped window around and it will sometimes dismiss the drop target window. If it does then a second attempt to group the window will not dismiss the drop target window after a successful grouping. You can see this by moving the group afterwards. 

4. After step 3 some time later (usually a few seconds) the window is dismissed.

I noticed that while the window is still visible, a second grouping attempt (Pressing shift and grabbing another window) will dismiss it and then reposition it correctly for the new grouping attempt. I'm assuming there is but only one Drop target window.

I don't know what to say about the painting glitches with resizing as it works fine as long as the sizing comes from the apps window and not the groupy dialog. However it also works fine even from the groupy dialog with the "Integrated tabs" option turned on. It also on occurs on sizing that involve child window position changes. I.e. sizing the group on the left or top sides. Sizing from the right or bottom side does not.

Although nothing has changed in my specs I'll list them anyway.

Windows 11 22621-2134 (Current non beta).

Radeon 5500XT GPU

5600X @4.4Ghz

128GB DDR4 @3600Mhz

Primary Monitor - 47" 4K @ 200%DPI (Top)

Secondary - 32" 4K @ 200%DPI (Bottom)

If need be I can make another Video but I'm getting sick of ShareX. The videos come out jerky as hell and you can't choose just one monitor to record. The adrenalin software just doesn't record anything despite it showing the counter ticking away.

What do you mean by resizing from the groupy dialog?

Also are you 100% sure you have the very latest version installed?  Did you uninstall the old one, reboot and then install the new one as the above isn't reproducing.

By resizing from the groupy dialog I mean the Dialog window created for each tab group. The one the tabs are displayed in. If you turn off the background bar and have fewer tabs than the windows width and also have tabs set to "above" you can either resize by grabbing the top of a tab (the dialog window) or the top of the caption of the tabbed window.

I was pretty sure i did the purge method however I will try it again and see.

So I've only had a few minutes to play with this version but so far things are working better. The drop target issue is all but gone. I would still prefer an option to disable it entirely. You can still keep the faux tab as an indicator of drop position. Also I haven't found the option to adjust the launch delay which I suspect I will have to manually edit the .groupy file for. If that is the case (which I haven't had time to check yet) might I suggest a UI option for it. 

I still can't figure out the resize problem. I was about 99% sure its a Delphi thing however it works fine when sizing from the window but errors when doing so from the groupy dialog. Since I maintain the app in question now I'm in a unique position to be able to try things if anyone has anything in mind. 

On a side note I've been meaning to ask is there a means to detect the launch from groupy. So far I'm getting the handle to the parent process but it seems to not work. I would like to know how groupy handles the launch (CreateProcess, ShellExecuteEx, etc..).

Anyway things are working fairly well atm (which undoubtedly means I'm screwing something up) so good job everyone. : )

Previous versions didn't do that. While I don't want that in this case I could see that as a valuable option to have as well as opening the group on the desktop it was last launched on.

EDIT: It turns out the taskbar button thing only happens with the "Show only one combined button" option.

The new version of groupy2 is very broken on my system. I cannot drag other windows onto my other screens. If I drag my window the the left monitor, it snaps back to my main monitor to the left side. If I drag the window to the right monitor, it stretches across 2 screens. It goes away if I disable groupy. I completely removed groupy from my system, rebooted and reinstalled the app. Still have the same problems.

2nd issue is the tabs now fit the window frames horizontally but have an adverse affect of now going wherever they please on the vertical axis of the window frame. Sometimes the tab fits right other times its way above or below. Some examples below along with a video. https://streamable.com/i203ds

 

I have it disabled for now as I cannot use my system with it on. Keeps yanking my windows to my main monitor.

not vertical screen, all screens are landscape. The tabs dont align vertically on the tab bar as of this update. Its 100% an issue with windowblinds skins. Its fine without wb on other than the weird window snapping bug.

 

As for the skins. Any wb skin will do. Each one has varying differences in how the tabs are drawn on top. My steam powered one is an example of one I shown you can try. Its in the gallery. The tabs on that skin sink into the commandbar area for windows 11 systems, you can see where it overlaps.

 

Previous groupy beta the tabs were aligned correctly vertically, but had excess drawings on the sides of the borders. So its not quite fixed yet.

The taskbar thing is not new, thats how it has to work due to OS limitations.

With regards to the launch delay, thats something thats manually added IF you need it to the specific groupy file.  There is no UI and there will not be.

Its set in the save group itself, in this example, just before the second group in the entry

So far for me 1500 (1.5 seconds) seems to work pretty well. However I noticed that groupy, instead of just updating the file completely overwrites it. I had to re-edit the file to add the delay each time I saved any changes to the group.

I would still like to reiterate the idea of groupy automatically updating its groups settings. Instead of having to resave the group after any changes such as moving a group to another monitor or adding/removing tabs. Also I do not think groupy has a concept of "last active" tab at all (at least I see no indication in the .groupy file).

I am please to say that the newest version has fix all tab issues on my system. Thanks for the fixes!

 

Only one small minor issue still with them that is not really a priority. They shift down when maxed causing it to overlap the win 11 command bar.

personalized hotkeys to switch between tabs are not working. If I mark the checkbox to allow groupy2 to use control+tab to switch between tabs, it works that combination, but not shift+tab which is also under the same option, and neither when I select manually a different shortcut with the option given with "windows key" + "your own key"

any idea why can that be?

win 10 pro x64 updated to the latest version

 

also, is there any way to manually pick any combination of keys to use in the application? I find the given options pretty restrictive, for example if I want to use control+alt+F11 and bind that combination to a mouse button I can't do it, I am restricted to the options you picked before for me like the "windows + your key" that doesn't work at all for me.

Any chance for skinning of the tabs/buttons via windowblinds or just allowing custom font colors and integrated tabs in the settings? I have to set the theme use dark mode if I want the font to be white, would like to set the font manually in settings or be controlled with windowblinds if its loaded.
