Start 11 regularly freezes (can't be interacted with), and this situation can be worked around from restarting the windows explorer processs

what the title says.  Start 11 regularly freezes.  The only way I know of to unfreeze the start 11 taskbar is to end the windows explorer processes and start the explorer process again.

Any advice?

The issue seems to be new, after reinstalling Windows 11.  Issue active for about 1 week.

To reproduce, making sure Start 11 is installed, use PC as normal, and taskbar freezing should eventually happen.  Is also triggered when attempting to use windows explorer, perhaps when copying or moving files.

Instead of the normal mouse cursor when hovering over the task bar, what is shown is an icon that is both an arrow up and an arrow down, and the taskbar can't be interacted with.

Stopping and the restarting the windows explorer process unfreezes the taskbar.

No crash dumps occur.

Are you also running Groupy 2 beta?

We have high hopes this is resolved in the next Groupy beta.

It seems most likely to happen if Windows is set to run explorer folders in their own process.

I am having the same issue.

Randomly, at boot, the taskbar is just a gray bar with nothing on it. Nothing else happens.

If I CTRL+ALT+DEL and log out, then log back in, it comes back.

It happens about 25% of the time or so. I've never seen it happen twice (after logging out and back in) so might be a race condition of some sort with something else launching at startup.

I'm running Windows 11 Pro 22H2, build 22621.2070.

My installation is two days old, so I have barely anything else installed. I don't what Groupy is - I don't have that installed.

This was happening before I reinstalled my system as well, but I didn't report it, because lots of "fun" stuff was happening. (my previous OS install went 8 years and 3 upgrades without a reinstall, so it was over due for a clean slate...)

I've never had similar issues with the two previous generations of this product.

If there is anything I can do or provide to help debug the issue, please let me know.
