The new version prevents me from opening the UI, and the old version reminds me to update every time I boot up.
Hello,Sorry to hear you are having issues. Try this, uninstall, reboot immediately after, download and install the latest version again. Use the link that mention in that post: https://forums.stardock.com/517370/get;3881371 (reply#2). Reboot again after the install finish. Retest and report back.

This method doesn't work for me, despite following your instructions.
Please post a screenshot of your Fences 4 about page. And do you still get update notification after the installation?
Thank you,
Basj,Stardock Community Assistant
I am unable to open Fences by right-clicking on the desktop, but I am able to open it through the shortcut icon. Additionally, I am currently unable to unlock the desktop.
Hello,I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.
Did you change the official Windows 11 right click context menu to legacy style context menu?
Yes, that's correct.
Than, I believe, that is the issue, you will need to change back to default Windows 11 Right click menu for Fences to open up via the context menu.
That is the problem, if you want it to work you will need to change it back to the default. The developer is looking into allowing this change, but there is no current ETA for an update
