[SOLVED] Bug? Clicking on a Groupy tab causes Groupy window to change taskbar position

Possible "7 Taskbar Tweaker" conflict?

I use "7 Taskbar Tweaker" (on Windows 10) to customize the order of my taskbar items. This helps me stay organized and work effectively.

Unfortunately, "Groupy" windows are not staying in their proper taskbar positions.

Whenever I click on any "Groupy" tab...the affected "Groupy" window will suddenly move the very last position on the taskbar.

I want the Groupy window to stay in its taskbar position, regardless of whatever Groupy tab is active.

Please let me know if I have explained this clearly...if not, I can upload a GIF to visually show you the problem.

Okay, so here is my taskbar...organized the way I want.

You will notice the mouse pointing to the purple taskbar item, which is a "Groupy" window containing multiple tabs within it.

Also notice that it is in the third position on my taskbar...

Now I will go inside the "Groupy" window, and click on any of the tabs...

By clicking on any of those tabs, my "Groupy" window has suddenly moved to the last position in the taskbar...

This behavior occurs with any Groupy window.

Essentially, switching between Groupy tabs makes the taskbar item behave as if a new window has opened. That is why the Groupy window always moves to the last taskbar position whenever the Groupy tab gets switched.

I believe, I understand it now and to me, it look like compatibility issue between "7 Taskbar Tweaker" and Groupy. Do you have the option to only show the active tab on the taskbar enabled? If so disabling that would probably fix it.

I think this is simply a bug/flaw in how 7tt works and may be unavoidable from our side with that enabled.

I couldn't find any option with the words you just mentioned...HOWEVER, you were correct that a setting within 7tt could help!

After lots of experimentation, I have just discovered that checking/enabling the option "When not grouping, place new items next to the existing ones" SOLVES THE PROBLEM!

Now I can switch between Groupy tabs, and the taskbar item stays in place!

Oh, I misunderstood Neil's post. However, I just tested his theory and I don't think that is a proper solution (in my usage case, though it may help others).

My purpose for using Groupy is to consolidate multiple windows into one. And that should also be represented as one item on the taskbar.

By disabling that option Neil cited, a single Groupy window is represented on the taskbar by multiple items (depending on the number of tabs the Groupy window contains). It becomes very messy and hard to navigate.

Activating the 7tt option I cited above lets you have a single Groupy window represented by a single taskbar item...and eliminates the problem of that taskbar item suddenly changing positons on Groupy tab switches.
