You can change which monitor is primary if you wish in Windows which would seem to achieve what you want.

Moving your primary taskbar to a non primary monitor is extremely edge case which is probably why Microsoft have removed this from Windows 11.

I cannot say if we will or will not be offering this in a future Start11 build as it is fairly low down the priority list.

That said I believe future Win11 builds are improving the secondary taskbar to make the primary and secondary taskbars more feature equivalent (adding in the clock and I would expect to see more) which makes sense as there is no reason why they should not have been identical on Win11.

Why would you think this is an edge case? A simple Google search reveals it most certainly is not. 

This is a common workflow for gamers. 

Being able to move the taskbar to a secondary monitor is the only reason I downloaded Start11 to try. I will not be buying it without it.

Some Reddit posts suggested Start11 as a solution, but unless there is a button I am missing it is not possible. I am able to unlock the taskbar, but it does not appear to be able to drag and drop to a different monitor. 

The reason I and many others wish to move the taskbar to the secondary monitor is because of behavior exactly like what @nickw4rd mentioned - we play games. Games tend to start on your primary monitor by default. Most games do not allow you to change this, and many games act very weird if you start them on one monitor and then try to move them to another. When I am playing a game I want to be able not only to have my taskbar, but more importantly my system tray on a secondary monitor. 

I realize this thread is really old. Perhaps there is an updated plan now that includes this feature for Start11?
I would of course also be happy to be corrected if it does in fact already exist and I am just missing it in the UI. 

This seems like a bit of an older thread though I wanted to add that I would imagine that demand for this feature will continue to rise, if not already relatively higher than average, as OLED monitors become more affordable over time. I like keeping the taskbar only an a second LCD based panel to reduce any possibility of static pixels remaining on my primary OLED monitor when I am not using it.

I am aware that there is an auto-hide feature as well, though I've personally never liked that option and haven't found setting configurations for that feature that still don't annoy me. Pretty much the only time I've found value in the taskbar being on all monitors is for work settings. For my personal machine, with an OLED primary monitor, it is in my interest to reduce possibilities of burn-in from extremely static images, such as a taskbar, that could linger. When I did briefly try Win11 even when the taskbar would auto-hide it seemed like there was still a pixel width line of the taskbar color at the very bottom of my primary monitor as well.

Hopefully, this becomes a native feature of Win11 or Start11 can implement it.

I'm also interested in this feature but my use case isn't gaming but software development.

I need every available vertical pixel to see as much source code and overviews as possible.
You can see a drift into this direction as a lot of apps have merged the title and the menu bar to have more pixels available. And my windows taskbar wastes 86px all the time so it is better placed on the 2nd monitor.

• Changing the primary monitor isn't an option as lot of dialogs, windows and wizards would open on the wrong screen.
• Hiding the taskbar is no option for me as I want to see which apps are currently running and some indicate that new messages have arrived.

Is this still not a thing in windows 11? its reason I refuse to move to windows 11. I do not want my taskbar on my primary screen. as gamer most game do not support in game switching even to this date. some games got work around with windowed then use borderless gaming to hook that but some game even do not support that and older games do not.

I had hoped in 2024 microsoft would changed this by now but apperently not. seems ill be running windows 10 far beyond support date if they do not fix this.

First time and last time I tried windows 11 and third party programs made windows 11 extremely slow and buggy and not gonna try that again for such simply thing should be here by default.

I own start 11 ( not new version 2.0 version ) why even call it same and recharge people for that?!?! but it was not feature then. is it now? half way trough 2024?

Wish I hadn't bothered purchasing 5 licenses for start11, just found out that you can't use an extended display for your task bar yesterday after setting up a machine with 3 monitors. Waste of money, probably should have looked at something else.

You can use an extended display for your taskbar with 3 monitors.

The only thing you cannot have is centred mode for > 2 displays.

Their frustration is understandable but seemingly misplaced - attaching it to the group trying to work around what limitations MS has created.
