Which animations in particular are you finding slow?

The animations run internally at the refresh rate of your primary monitor.

Came here to say this too--glad I'm not the only one.

I have a 60Hz monitor and I can assure you the animations are not running at 60 FPS. More like 20. It's a small thing, but it makes the whole product feel cheap.

On Windows 10 using the Windows 10-style start in fullscreen. Maybe an odd use-case, but I like the aesthetics more than default Windows 10. The animation framerate is just such a turnoff I may go back to default until it's fixed.

I've got an Intel i5 10600K, RTX 2060, 32GB of RAM, and an NVMe SSD. Running at 4K, but even so, my system performance isn't the issue.

Oddly enough, I just noticed that switching pages within the start menu animates at full rate. Everything else, like opening/closing the menu, right-click menu animations, etc, all run at a way lower rate. The rate stays the same regardless of settings—fullscreen/standard, 7/10/11 styles, different search engines, etc. all behave the same. It doesn't feel like lag. It's consistent, just consistently 20 FPS or so.

I feel the same choppiness, hardly though, when opening Start Menu of Start11 on Windows 10 ( middle position ). It is not an annoyance but I confirm the issue in an attempt to make the product better for future updates.

Start Menu on Windows 11 without Start11 opens very smoothly. It's just like gliding frictionlessly in the air.

By the way, my monitor works at 60 Hz.

That almost looks like it's opening too fast and that's causing the issue...

I have a 165Hz monitor and a pretty high-end system (Ryzen 5900X, RTX 3080) and I have noticed this issue as well.  The menu animation of Start 11 is definitely 60 FPS or maybe even less.  People with traditional 60Hz monitors are probably not going to notice or care about this issue because they are accustomed to 60Hz.  The first time I saw Windows running at a high refresh rate was glorious.   As we see in this thread, people who are used to the smooth animation/mouse pointer movement of 120Hz+ are noticing the janky animation of Start 11.

If I set my monitor's refresh rate to 60Hz, the default Windows menu animation and the Start 11 menu animation look pretty much the same; they both have that slightly jittery 60Hz "look". If I set my refresh rate to 165Hz, the default Windows menu animation becomes buttery smooth but the Start 11 menu animation still has the look of 60 FPS.  This is occurring with all 4 menu styles (Modern, Windows 7, etc).

The 1.01 update is now available as a beta which you can download from your products page on the stardock store.

This should noticeably improve the frame rate on animations.
