Can't uninstall start11

I started my free trial days ago, when I tried to uninstall it, it said "Invalid uninstall control file: C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Stardock\Start11\Uninstall\Uninstall.xml". I manually run the uninstall.exe but it didn't work, it said "Invalid start mode: archive filename".

So is there any proper way to uninstall it?

Did you ever find out how to uninstall Stardock Start 11?  They provided a defective uninstall file in the install package, and I cannot find any solution to removing it.  Someone please help me.  I am a grandma in Texas, with limited technology skills, and I was hoping this program would help me make my Windows 11 right click context menu more user friendly, but it did not work out and now I am finding it impossible to remove it.  It is a shame that you trust a company to provide a way to successfully uninstall their software, but they let you down.

I am incapable of editing a registry or running a .bat solution, Stardock, PLEASE provide us with a working uninstall file, PLEASE!

My husband is dying (hospice, dementia) right now, and I surely do NOT need this added stress.  PLEASE help me!

I suggest you download a safe third party program, iobit uninstaller (free).

You can download it free here: https://www.iobit.com/en/advanceduninstaller.php

Make sure you clean the residual files as well.

The normal way of uninstalling software through Windows Settings isn't working for you? Windows Setting --> Apps --> Installed apps, select Stardock Start11, click the 3 dots and select uninstall?

Thank you for all the replies.  I will try iobit uninstaller next.  I have tried Revo Uninstaller, the control panel uninstall, CCleaner... none work, they all say bad uninstaller in the program.  T Paul Scroggins:  same thing, I get the error message saying, "invalid uninstall control file...."

Does ANYONE have any other suggestions, please?

I think IObit installer is a very annoying software that will spam you with commercial messages and so on. If you still use it uninstall it right after.

I had the same problem as you, I used the purging method mentioned by @basj which is well explained and extremely simple (download a zip file, unzip, right click on bat file, run as administrator, then reinstall the software and then the uninstall feature should work correctly).

It's a disgrace that this software is so bugged.  I too have residual programmes remaining after uninstalling, uninstallers that will not work  (Start 11), leaving my system full of botched software all over the place, and don't get me started on Windowblinds.  I knew there was a reason why I aborted this software years ago and this has just reminded my why I should never have upgraded thinking they would have sorted it all out - but no.

Windowblinds & Start11 have left my system absolutely shafted, thanks a lot.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. It is best to explain more details on the issue so we can help you. I have been installing and uninstalling Stardock Software product for testing purpose almost weekly and more when there are new beta, updates, etc released. So far I have not have major issue with all of them. And I been doing it for years. From memory, usually, things happen if the user do not do the system restart/reboot as suggested when you install or uninstall a product. And most of them resolved the issue by Purge and reinstalling. And if that don't work, most of the time there is other 3rd party software blocking the product from doing its job.

Thanks

I've manually had to uninstall from the registry and from all the folders and disabled all the services. It has taken the best part of a day to unpick all this and get things near normal.

There is definitely an issue where unloading WB refuses to restore the colours as they were before skinning.  You should have a snapshot feature that restores everything to pre-WB skinning as a minimum to avoid this.  Almost the opposite of Fences that snapshots everything and restores to your desired Fences layout if things go toes up.  Having a restore to pre-WB option would just make things so much simpler.  Surely if things can be skinned they can be unskinned.

Unfortunately my restore point has been overwritten after windows update hassles so I won't be attempting to look at this again for a while.

Incidentally Start 10 components and folder were found when I was manually removing everything - which I assumed would of been  removed and installed when Start 11 was installed - evidently this was not the case.

It's all just a bit sloppy and you need to check the engine instead of polishing the bonnet TBH.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, what is? Also, please don't post a short one line post without any details. It is really hard to help you when there is basically no information to work on.

Thank you.
