Attention: Neil Banfield Neil, here is where I stand on Start 11. As I retested two more times, I feel firm in this response.
1) It does a great job of honoring icons, so this is a go.
2) The largest tile is too small for me. This is a show stopper. I must see and appreciate what I am working with.
3) The grid format supports only I think four rows of what I consider small icons. You call them large icons like Microsoft. The rest of them are not scrollable. While they appear in your "All Programs" category, this is absolutely not in the spirit of the Windows 10 start menu and is not the interface I want. I already have a roll your own that is better. This is a show stopper.
4) In ideal circumstance, as windows 10 and 11 start menus support changing background color, this would be ideal as the beauty of partially transparent icons would really show. But as there has been one beta, and no other changes seem to be coming here, I'm not optimistic
Having worked with many companies, my observation is that they rarely change direction based on user feedback (sad). So you can imagine that unless there are significant changes, I will not be using Start11, and yes, that disappoints me. So unfortunately, I will not be doing any further work with Start 11 without serious design changes. Now, it is not giving up to soon. I will judge by your response or lack of one. If you are like Microsoft, I will not hear from you at all.
