Re-upping this because I didn't get a response. Please can you help? I thought the forum was dead but there were responses to the other query...

We have our weekly meetings today. I will ask about FE and see what the current temperature is. I want to be careful making any promises myself though since that's not my call and right now we're very busy with 3 big projects. The issue currently is we are hiring but we just can't get the people we need to have folks working on everything we ideally want.

One way that fans can help is if you or someone you know has programming/design experience (and ideally lives in the United States) send them to our careers page. Obviously with how this year has been we've struggled to get the people we need for everything. But, the sooner we can do that, or as those projects get close to release, we can share more time around.

Anyway, I'll talk with the guys and see what we're thinking about the future for FE. We've not forgotten it, just had a lot of on our plates recently.

No plans at the moment. It's probably going to be a case of once we've worked through what we're currently working on and then the whole executive planning process goes into effect. We've got a pretty good idea of what we're doing for our next 3 games. Right now is the lull as we're busy on something big.

As soon as I know we have something planned for FE and can share it with you guys though I will.

I can honestly say I think about Elemental every day. 

Richard Garriott, of Ultima fame, wants to know when we're doing more too.

We have plans and one of those plans is to actually try to release Elemental: War of Magic onto Steam and help update the branding on the other titles (Elemental: Fallen Enchantress and Elemental: Sorcerer King).

But then Covid hit which threw a big wrench in our hiring process so I've been having to steal people from other projects to work on our main, unannounced, project we've got going here.

 

You guys commenting directly on the forums just echos the heart and passion you put into such a great game (on a 35-hour game right now). I had no idea about War of Magic, just looked it up, so it looks like an older version of FE? The interesting strategy of reworking an old game to help push the new titles. I'm glad you guys are still thinking about Elemental so much, it's very telling that a 7-8-year-old game still has so much draw. We appreciate you guys!

Wait, hold up.  Are you talking about updating EWOM, then?  Because that would be freakin' amazing.  (I always regretted we never really got to play the game you described/intended...)  Fingers crossed very hard that this still happens!! 

Brad, you just made my day.  Never mind that it'll obviously still be years down the road; it's still something to look forward to.

I've just started playing FE:LH after many years sitting in my game library and it truly is a hidden gem.  Hope they make a sequel and make the races a bit more flavorful.

Thanks, Avb81 I missed this. I wanted to say thanks to the devs and teams for this. I was thrilled to see that the turns on larger maps have been addressed. I'm floored that the devs and team continue to support this game years later and you have my gratitude as well as countless people I've referred this game too. Can't wait to see this update come out, when are you guys expected it?

War of Magic was a much, much more ambitious game than Fallen Enchantress.

Take Fallen Enchantress and then add routine terraforming (The game was based on the player bringing the world back to life) and dynasties (your characters got married, had children and those children took on the traits of their parents even visually) and a much more sophisticated spell book and resource system.

But it also was built on top of a 32-bit engine that we thought we had a clever trick to getting around the memory limitations -- a trick that blew up in our faces.

We haven't seen the end of Elemental for sure.  It's just a matter of when.

Happy 2023 to you, Schism and your families, and the team at Stardock. I was looking on the steam sales and saw some stuff that made me think about you guys. Thanks for the patches last year that was very nice. I just want to continue to express how great of a game FE really is. There are a few games that I can just keep coming back to. And while I was late to this game it truly is a gem. 

Now 1.5 years later Wondering if there has been any revisiting this game at all in terms of a sequel or similar? Thanks again!
