I feel sorry for this, but as if we have other options? Stay at home and be safe!

Good on those consciously doing positive things such as self isolating to help curb the spread of this dreadful disease.  God knows the world's politicians have done too little too late to curb it..... the measures being implemented often fall well short of what should be done to protect their constituents.

I don't get out a lot anymore anyhow, so my self isolating is pretty much the norm for me these days.  And what's with the world going out panic buying and emptying stores?  It's just nuts.  Sometimes bad situations such as this brings out the worst in some people.  When I see on the news that people are brawling in supermarkets over packs of toilet paper I begin to wonder just how civilised we really are.... cos obviously some have gone feral.

When I see images of selfish and care-less people packed together on Bondi Beach I'm angered and astounded at their sheer stupidity when the health warnings say to self-isolate and not to gather in large groups during this Covid 19 pandemic.  Like where are their heads at, risking their own welfare and the welfare of others?  And then there's the selfish Spring Breakers in Florida, risking everything for a bit of 'fun'.

I feel a bit safer now that the Tasmanian Government has put the state in lockdown.  Nobody in or out until further notice, with large gatherings/social events all cancelled.  So far we have just 10 confirmed cases of the virus and hopefully it doesn't go any higher. 

Without having to resort to panic buying, we have enough food to last us a month [or 2 at a pinch] if we are forced to totally self isolate in-home.  Hopefully it doesn't come to that, but this pandemic is far from over and we may have to endure stricter conditions in order to slow down and eventually halt the spread of this virus.

Well the Australian Federal Government has now officially closed licensed premises such as pubs, clubs and hotels, places of worship, gyms, health and fitness centres.... pretty much everywhere where groups of people congregate to hopefully enforce social distancing.  It's a sensible move, being that so many were not observing safe practices, and hopefully now people will take this virus more seriously.

In another gaming/Coronavirus story breaking in Oz today, JB HiFi is saying that they've had a massive run-out of gaming consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo platforms.  People are stripping their shelves of consoles and games to so-say beat the boredom of isolation and lockdown. 

Personally, I have more than enough to keep me from developing 'cabin fever', so I'm not in the least bit concerned that JB HiFi and other retailers are saying that new stocks of games and consoles won't arrive until late April, possibly even longer.

On another note, we had to call an ambulance to take Shaunna to the hospital last night.  Put it this way, she was feeling quite unwell, though not necessarily exhibiting the reported symptoms of Covid 19.  We're hoping that it's related to an infection in her leg rather than this dreaded virus, and that she will quickly respond to antibiotics and be back at home soon. 

Thing is, Steve and I aren't showing any symptoms of illness, and if Shaunna did have Covid 19 we're thinking that we'd be exhibiting symptoms as well, being we all live in close proximity under the same roof.  Anyway, here's hoping and fingers crossed that Shaunna's being unwell is nothing serious and that she can come home today.

Update on Shaunna: The good news is that she does not have Covid 19.  It turns out it was the infection to a wound on her left leg that wasn't responding to regular antibiotics, and because she has lymphodema in both legs the hospital decided to admit her to try bring the infection under control.

Yes, we will be careful; however, the hospital has set up an isolation/quarantine area away from patients presenting with other issues unrelated to Covid 19.  At last report there are just 16 cases in Tasmania, up from the previous 10 due to infected passengers from a cruise ship entering the state.  They were immediately quarantined and are now in isolation, as are the other sufferers. 

Hopefully, the rise in new cases will be zero since the state government put in place stringent measures to combat this damned virus.  Nobody can travel in or out of the state, and with all non-essential services now shut down, and the majority of people staying at home we may not see the sharp escalation in new cases that the other states have.

What I don't get, when all other countries are shutting down everything non-essential, is why Donald Trump is ignoring all medical advice and seeking to lift safeguards and restrictions to open up the US for business as usual.  It's obviously about the almighty dollar, rather than lives, but what's the point of money if everyone's dead?

Anyway, I'll leave it at that because I neither want or need to get angry over stuff.
