No Artocarpus - any remedy?

Hi,

I've just played a game where there was precisely one Artocarpus in the Market (and none of the AI had any) so I couldn't build the glorious restaurant of eternity. (To be more precise the price did go down to 850 and I stupidly bought one a number of turns previously but one of the planets I'd forgotten not to unautomate presumably must have made a wellness falls to use it up. Since the price was still 1000 at the end of the game (so I could only get one more) I didn't try a full search; and I don't think that destroying an improvement restores the resource used anyway does it?

I know you can get Aurorus through a xylology expedition but there isn't a mechanism for Artocarpus is there? I assume that somewhere in the galaxy there is one source which i hadn't located and I could try to capture it but it is a huge galaxy so it would have been a huge faff finding it.

No without mods some of the resources can be locked out. We have asked numerous times and given suggestions. Black market ..... missions for every resource there is apparently no will to fix this which is very disappointing. You either mod or risk being completely fucked. Why this is acceptable I don’t know. It is very disappointing and probably the reason I haven’t finished a game in a long time. When you learn on turn 250 you are kinda fucked by lack of resources you lose the desire to play. Which is a damn shame.

also one of the reasons I won’t recommend this game to other people.

i think this is low hanging fruit.

If you're willing to consider mods, I recommend this one, which adds 3 new techs that unlock shipyard missions to go into the galaxy and find resources. https://www.nexusmods.com/galacticcivilizations3/mods/109

It is annoying that some resources are blocked out in some games. But I have used the above mentioned mod (though not for a while) and when I used it, it worked perfectly.

I think I'm probably happy to take my chances with the virtual dice without a mod (in the present game just had my main fleet with commander destroyed in what presumably is a 1/1000 event cause victory "was certain" - incidentally do you happen to know what "certain" does mean in this context?)

Actually in that galaxy after the game ended I did find the Artocarpus which was on a minor race planet - Easluna - which had long since been captured by the Terrans with whom I didn't especially want to go to war though I was Benevolent and they Pragmatic of course.

From my experience, if the cost of a resource goes under 1000, that means that there is one somewhere in the galaxy. I believe the market gets half the amount produced anywhere in the galaxy. 1000 means (I think) that one was upgraded to produce in the first place, and that first one at 1000 is "free". The next price down is 850 (I think) which means that 2 have been produced somewhere.

I might be wrong about some of this, but my experience seems to back it up.

(edit) Also, if there are none at all in the galaxy, or none have been upgraded to produce, they won't even show up in the market. I've seen this, when looking for a specific resource. It won't show up for a while, and then show at 1000. Which means that somewhere, there is one. It is just a matter of finding it.
