Office 365 applications do not show up in Start10

Over the last 1-2 days I have been busy trying to install Office 365.
The installation went fine.

However...
each and every time only the 'online version' of Office was added to the Start10-menu, i.e. Outlook, Excel running within Edge Chromium instead of the actual application: Excel.exe, Outlook.exe, etc.

No other applications were installed, only Start10 and Edge Chromium.

After a Windows reset, removing all settings, Office was installed properly.
Start10 was not running then.

I installed Office on a clean Windows 10 VM (VMware Workstation)
(clean=identical to a the situation after a reset)
Again, installation went fine.

So, one way or the other the actual applications (.exe files) do not end up the Start10 menu.

Took me a while and with the help of others I figured this out.

Just an additional note: the Windows on the laptop was 'clean', so only Edge Chromium and Start10.
The 'next thing' I intended to install was Office 365. I followed the correct steps.
As said, the installs as such, they went fine, nothing wrong with that.
Just the wrong buttons ended up in start menu.
The 'tiny' buttons in the start menu (left) they launch the webbrowser version of Excel, Outlook, Word.
Installed Office a number of times, each time with the same result.
Some helpful users suggested I should search for exe files and add those to the startmenu.
That solved the case.

So, apparently, you're saying you have solved the issue by adding the individual program manually?

Yes, indeed, the matter has been solved.

I was given the advice to search for the .exe files, then r-click/add them to the start menu (in this case to Start10 menu).

However, by that time I already had installed Office 365 about 6 times(!) in between restoring the clean Windows image.
I always create a 'configured Windows' image before starting installing software.
('Configured' means, how I want Windows to be, like in this case, I don't want the Windows start, but I want Start10, plus a number of other Windows settings, like Edge Chromium, removing password login, etc.)

As said, the links to the Office .exe files, they did not show up in Start10, Instead only the links to the online version, which, to be honest, I wasn't aware they existed...

Even though I solved this problem (with help...) - I think there -may- be an issue with Start10 adding/registering the actual .exe files to the menu.
My post is to suggest developers may wish to have a look at it.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I just can't reproduce what you are seeing with EdgeC and the installed versions of MSO:

I assumed it was Edge, but it appeared not to be the case.
In my case : a clean Windows 10 x64 system, installed Office 365.
Taking your video, after about 3 seconds, Start Menu

Then click on All Programs

It shows Office applications with the tiny buttons (see my 1st screenshot above, left), whereas normally the big buttons would appear there.
The tiny buttons resulting in the online version of Office, the big ones to the local version application.
The 'big buttons' (local Excel, Outlook....) are not 'registered' to/within Start10.
AFAIK this was always the case.
Yes, of course, I can do a search for Excel/Outlook and manually pin them to Start10 and I did so accordingly.
As said, AFAIK, the local apps were automatically show up in the 'All Programs' panel.

Anyway, it is solved now.
Just wanted to draw your attention to it.

Are you sure they are not simply elsewhere in the all programs list?

The app installer is responsible for installing the shortcuts, Start10 simply shows what is there.

Depending on how they install, they could be showing under universal apps.

First of all: I am deeply sorry for the delay. It slipped my mind to reply. because the matter was solved.
Again sorry.

As said, I manually added the actual .exe files to Start10, i.e.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\EXCEL.EXE
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\WINWORD.EXE

By doing so, the 'big' icons of the Office applications were added and things worked as before, i.e. starting the 'local' Office-applications rather than the online version. Only the online versions were showing up in the Start10 menu.
