This issue persists. When I delete an icon from the desktop, usually another icon, or two - already in a Fence - will pop out of place and have to be returned manually to its Fence. I installed a clean, updated, Windows 10 64-bit [Creators Update] and used this new Beta-version of Fences.

Can you please contact support so we can collect some more information?  https://forums.stardock.com/482624/page/1/#3674522

Thanks!

I noticed the list view option now shows a more vertically and horizontally spaced list, that should supposedly be easier to read, but consumes much more of the precious screen real estate. Could you please revert to the previous, more compact layout? Or at least maintain the previous option? It is nice that you are constantly adding new features but it is not so nice when old and loved ones are removed. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback.  I will pass it along.

Quoting gevansmd,

Why do I not have any view options for choosing icon, list, detail, etc.?  All I have is roll-up, exclude from quick hide and opacity options.

Normal desktop fences do not have options for view styles.  Those are only supported for portal/folder fences.

Are you not seeing the options on folder/portal fences?

I do not use portal Fences becausde I prefer the icons without the shortcut arrows on them.  In any case, that explaions why I don't see the options.

There is an option to hide shortcuts on the Color & Appearance at the bottom .  Have you tried that.

Quoting RedneckDude,

Quick Hide isn't working on reboot. I have to manually hide icons every time I reboot.

Can you verify that the "Always show icons at startup" is NOT enabled?

Thanks, Zu. That worked! I didn't enable it tho, does it come enabled by default?

It does.

We may need to look at changing the message when a user first double-click to hide.

Using CTRL plus the scroll wheel to change icon size has been implemented in Windows since Win ME.

I was not a regular user of Fences until now with these new updates. The "Roll-up" function just made me a permenant user. Here is my new desktop with the latest Fences Beta installed. Uncluttered and totally FANTASTIC !!

Can't install 3.0.4 - the install tells me that Fences v2 needs to be uninstalled, and the PC rebooted, but I don't have v2 installed, just 3.0.3.

I had the same problem with Fences 2. Here's what I did, I went into C: Programs folder: Stardock and dragged the Fences 2 folder to the desktop. Then I installed 3.04. After I rebooted I checked to see if Fences was running OK then I deleted the Fences 2 folder.

Disappointed to see that 6 months of development and this update didn't include:

When navigating folders within the fence can I request 2 features:

1. Enable the backspace key for navigation like in Windows Explorer - when in a sub-folder in a fence backspace moves you up a level.

2. Make the Up arrow in the title of the fence static in position - it's annoying as it moves around based on the length of the fence title and getting back to the root of the fence can be frustrating.

If you are familiar with the registry you can delete the path at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Misc\Fences2 (or just the whole key) and all should be well.

Additionally I get the FencesBootstrap message when using the 3.0.4_12 beta. So I can not upgrade with both newer versions.

The beta has fixed that issue in the full release.

I don't have that. I don't why I have MyDock (guessing it's for Object Dock) or 2 WB folders, especially WB5.ini. Something doesn't look right but everything works.

Never mind I found it in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Stardock\Misc\Fences2

It didn't immediately dawn on me that an obscure Windows feature was also an obscure Fences feature.  But it did help make the list views not look so awkward by default.
