Can you force a ship role when doing custom buluprints

I know roles are 'normally' auto defined as a function of hull size, fortitude, threat, & value.  But is there a way to have say a large hull custom blueprinted ship always be say an Assault role (normally limited to small) ?   Do i need to make a special hull and still manage T/F/V or is there someway to just 'lock' it to what i want;  like you can when using the ship editor/designer.

I don't think there is a way. I tried doing something similar when I reworked all the custom blueprints a while ago. It didn't work for me either.

I would be happy to hear my assessment, of it being impossible currently, is wrong.

Btw: since I read your post in the logistics cap thread, if you want the AI to use more support ships, you might need to look in the AIStrategyDefs, too.
