Game freezes, becomes unresponsive on save/load

The game doesn't crash, it doesn't do anything.

I'll play for roughly 10 minutes, then something happens and the "Turn" button is grayed out. My mouse appears normal till I find the one unit it turns into an hourglass over. I save/reload like has been suggested in these forums, but the game becomes unresponsive and I have to kill task it. I restart the game/load and it runs fine for a few minutes before it happens again.

I'm running the latest version with all the dlc. My machine is running windows 7.

I was hoping the 1.7 update would clear this issue up, but apparently it didn't.

Started a new game and it's the same issue 5 minutes in. Turn button greyed out and unable to end my turn. Retire from the game to try and start a new one to see if it will happen again. Game hangs and becomes unresponsive requiring a kill task.

So it says there's a reply in this thread by someone other than me, but apparently I can't see it.

I looked on the forums a bit and tried the same stuff that other people have tried to fix this all to no avail. How can such a game breaking bug still be here since 1.4?

Well the problem is that it doesn't happen for everyone.  I don't get that problem any more.  Maybe you could submit some files to Stardock to help them pinpoint the problem.  It could also be to do with the amount of memory you have free.  As I said, I don't have this problem on my end.

I've had this problem and attribute it to running out of virtual memory.   I like to play a huge game, but after the game has progressed for some time the problem starts occurring.

I save the game frequently using ctrl-S
