I've been using Fences 2.0 for a few months now and I love it because it keeps all my desktop icons tidy and in conveniently named windows. Very useful, especially as some applications have an annoying tendency to mess up the traditional desktop icon placement.

I have three Fences for System, Benchmarks and Programs/Applications plus two Portals for my games shortcuts. The Fences use using grids which click to specific sizes when I make them bigger to accommodate the icons inside. Auto-arrangement is disabled so I can order the icons as I want them. It's very intuitive and easy to setup and generally works fine.

However, I've noticed that across my two builds, my current i7-4770K one with a clean 64-bit Windows 8 Pro install, and my previous i7-920 one, again with 64-bit Windows 8 Pro, that icons on the right-hand side, which usually fit inside the Fence perfectly, are being pushed onto a second row with a slider bar appearing so I can scroll down to select it. I then have to disable Lock under View settings then drag the Fence a pixel or two to the right to make the icon reappear back where it was on a single row. I then Lock the Fence again. This does not fix it though and eventually it will reoccur.

My question is why does this keep happening? These Fences are generally unchanged and contain the same icons yet every now and again it'll decide to push an icon onto a second row for no apparent reason. Seems like a bug to me. It gets a bit irritating to have to keep adjusting the Fence size slightly to get the icon to move back to its original position. The odd thing is that this adjustment then snaps back to its original size anyway due to the setting I'm using which 'snaps' to fit the icons inside the Fence. Basically, what I'm saying is that the EXACT same sized Fence will either show all my icons as it should or push one of them onto a second row, just because it feels like it!!!

There is also a minor issue with the Recycle Bin icon that keeps moving around in one Fence even though auto-arrange is off. I have it set to show at the far right but every now and then it keeps switching places with the icon next to it.

This is undoubtedly an excellent piece of software that I find extremely useful but this bug is getting annoying. It doesn't happen all the time, just every now and again but I can see no reason for it to be happening.
