Like to See This on GOG.com

It would be very nice to see Stardock go in with GOG.com and start putting there games on that site. It is and is doing very well and they are DRM free and would go along with many of Brads beliefs.

For Trinity it might work after the Stardock store is finished. But I don't know if they intend to keep selling trinity after Rebellion, and Rebellion is a steam works game so it has DRM no matter where its sold...

I too would love to see the series released on gog.com. I'm not really a fan of Steam in terms of DRM (what happens to the games you paid for when Steam someday shuts down?). Hope a release their happens! Especially for Rebellion since I didn't bought that because of Steam. Would be an instant buy for me on GOG.

Steam has promised they will unlock all Steam DRM if that does happen, but honestly we probably won't have to worry about that for another decade at least. I was skeptical at first as well, but as Steam has only made their restrictions less severe (an actual offline mode for example) I think they may mean it.

As I said before though, it is possible Sins Trinity could be put on GOG, as it has no DRM. However, Rebellion is a steam works game, which means short of Steam actually collapsing, you have to use steam with it.

Well, I use Steam too if I have to and I'm glad there's an offline mode but nontheless I prefer my games without restrictions in form of being linked to an account (or any other software for that matter).

Rebellion should work with pretty few adjustments without Steamworks, too, with LAN or Direct IP in this scenario, which is obviously not linked to Steamwork servers^^

Even if we didn't use Steam, GOG wouldn't accept the game because of our user registration system.

I put zero faith in any 'promise' made by any company. The only thing they might honour is a contract, and you will probably have to take them to court to get them to honour it. Who would bother trying if they did go under?

To be fair that is because your registration system is DRM. You could remove it for the gog.com version. They do allow registration for multiplayer, so you could always include that. The point of a DRM free GOG.com release is to show your customers that you trust them and to allow us the freedom to play as we want, when we want, on the machines we want.

Please make it happen! You can only profit from it. I haven't bought any of the games since my first post here, and I intend on keeping my promise that I will as soon as you decide to go DRM-free.

A little update on the wishlist:

The titles from the SoaSE-series have 1000+ votes... http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=sins%20of%20a%20solar%20empire

Everything newer than Galactic Civilizations 1 has even almost 3000 votes. http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=galactic%20civ I bought the first btw.

I'm glad you're going DRM-free. Now I can finally go for SoaSE: Rebellion, after all this time. But I guess I'll grab the whole series while I'm at it...

this might just convince me to get it AGAIN at GOG(btw have both a local DVD and the direct versions, so will be a difficult decision), not dribble, then there will be no need for dribble in MY network which will free up drive space AND reduce the horrible TSR junk that hangs around
