If they were parked in orbit they would likely use less fuel.  If their power generator runs off fuel then, of course, they'll still be burning it.  If the ships are constantly running for fuel then either your fuel capacitance is too low (the default AI setting tells them to refuel when they're down to 48% of max) or the percentage for fetching fuel is too high.

If they're just dying for no foreseen cause:  Add a capacitor to their design.  Designs with generation/usage ratios near 1:1 can suffer momentary brownouts which lead to shipwide failure.  Adding a capacitor gives a background pool to draw from in those brownouts and so systems will keep running until the power generator ticks again.  If all systems in a ship go offline, the only way to restart the ship (due to various catch-22s) is through Boarding Parties.

As mentioned above, keeping the speed setting low at the later parts of the game, or introducing a reasonable ship cap, will limit this bug from occurring.  What happens is that in max demand situations, the component of the game responsible for calculating for every ship the amount of fuel to use, power to generate and take, and so on, can occasionally tick some systems twice before the power generator gets ticked.  This means for a moment the ship's draw will increase and the power generator will go beyond capacity and, thus, systems reliant on power will shut down.  Usually, that includes things like the Bridge and Crew Quarters (thus the catch 22).  If the Bridge goes down, the Power Generator can't turn back on.  The Generator needs Control and the Bridge needs Power and Crew, and the Crew can only survive ten seconds without the Life Support turned on.

If it's refusing to install, then it should be compatible with SR.  I'm not sure why your maps are taking a long time to load.  Could you tell me at what stage of map loading you're experiencing the slowdown?  SR saves are not particularly large and I would imagine would load fairly quickly for most map sizes and object counts unless your CPU is struggling to process the data.

That's interesting.  Maybe you have slow RAM/GPU?  That would be loading the texture/model heavy files (the models and textures for the shipsets).

That's because though the textures will be reduced in scale, they're still having to be loaded into memory -- which causes the slowdown you're experiencing.  It's normal for it to be a second or four for those to load as most everything else it's loading is either text-based (which loads very quickly) or procedurally generated (which is also fairly fast).

Re: Tankers -- they're for groups of travelling ships, mainly fleets.  

Re: Haulers -- they're for situations in a system which has no space port, or where you've disabled the space ports for some reason.  They're essentially a very slow space port substitute, but they can't draw from the galactic bank so they ship from planet to planet instead.  Haulers are also useful if you're generating a lot more on your planets than you're able to export to the galactic bank; they will take what isn't being exported and distribute it to any other planets in the system which do.

That's very simple:  You give it a fuel tank and tell it in its AI settings to accept things being deposited to it.  Tankers are already told to deposit fuel on ships that allow it and which are low on fuel.

I'm afraid not.  The only orders that go beyond that scope are defend range orders and auto-colonization/scouting orders.

I built a 4000 scale "celestial artillery" structure, how do I get it to automatically attack everything in its range without having to build a new one?

Also, I let my bro (who I already mentioned is in another state) download the game after you said it reset. Does that mean I cannot download it further without it being reset again? I have usb storage so it isnt a pressing matter that it be reset again (if it even needs to be reset again).

Does it need to be done through you every time (I dont plan on having it reset frequently) or can it be done through regular BMTmicro staff if I cant get into contact with you?

There is this option though under AI settings in the blueprint that sets the engagement range beyond the gravity well, and even lets you set the engagement so that its "galaxy" sized. In this case I would imagine that my celestial artillery would be able to attack anything it sees automatically. If this is true however, how does this newly set AI apply to already existing celestial artillery?

Also, the game is awesome. The only thing I have to complain about is the lack of art, which is of course completely understandable given its indie budget. Its not even so much that, the thing that bothers me more is that large scale ships look the same as a similar fitted much smaller ship. I've an idea on how you can fix this problem without having to do too much work: Work a code that, as the scale of a ship increases, causes certain traits to appear on the ship. The ship could grow more proportionally (and specifically) vertical, horizontal, or length-wise, or it could have more and more and larger "bumps" on it, bumps being control towers or shield generator emitters or other. Did you already have a similar idea going?

Dude, come on. I bought the damn game. You can look up the transaction too. Im no pirate. I just wanted to be able to play it with my brother. My brother would never have bought the game anyways as he says he doesnt like such games because they are too time consuming. I used this opportunity with you so that I could get him a copy, as I dont think he would have ever bought it, whereas now he has the full game and maybe it will grow on him and if you make a sequel he will then be influenced to buy that future product where otherwise he wouldnt have. I hope you dont imply you are annoyed with me or think that Im being unappreciative. I appreciate your resetting the password for me of course, as I realize it wasnt necessarily your responsibility to do so.

Furthermore, I dont really need the password reset. I got the game on my USB and my newly reset computer and its unlikely that they would both be lost and/or destroyed simultaneously. If it isnt inconvenient for you to get someone to reset it that would be a convenience for me though.

I assume you made it that way because of balance issues? Maybe it could be a toggleable option for casual players like me that want it automatic and professional players that think it breaks the game. Maybe you could set a limit for it where it does auto target but very inefficiently, say for example it only auto targets at a rate of 10 times its reload time.

It's actually simpler than that:  It's because of performance issues.  If every ship was looking at every ship in the galaxy, calculating their distance from them versus their weapon's range, and so forth all the time, well, I'm sure you could see the problem with that.

At this point you have forced our stance to move from 'one time exception' to 'possible repeat offender'.

This is neither true or false.  I can neither prove nor disprove it but the chances that you may be a pirate escalate if you have facilitated another.

This is a justification based upon a supposition; the supposition being empirically unprovable and thus false.  Therefore, the justification is likewise false.  Allow me to posit my own suppositions:  

(1) How do I know you're not going to give a copy to everyone you suspect may not like the game?  Where does the rabbit hole end?  We can't possibly know and you can't possibly prove where it does; so we have to assume the worst case.

(2) Further, since you do not express remorse and instead provide justifications, this tells me you are likely to have no ethical dilemma facilitating another copy to yet another person.  Even though you present your aim as altruistic (and it may or may not be) and harmless, the information above points strongly in the direction that, if we did reset your password, you would be likely to do what you've already done some more -- and potentially in a less altruistic manner as you would have nothing to lose (as you appear to hold no value to it).

I'm certainly not stating you've cost us any money, as we can't know whether you have, but you did facilitate piracy, and your word selection ("my brother tried", "I used this opportunity", "torrent downloader") places you in the position of being a compromised source of information; that you may be a pirate without means or simply in disguise for the moment.  If we provided those means, assuming that either of those statements were true, we would facilitate piracy of our own product.  

Therein lies our dilemma: If we do further aid you, you may abuse our aid; if we do not further aid you, we may punish you unjustly.  Thus the only solution we would choose in deference to you being a customer was the one we did:  If you further facilitate piracy of the product we will be under no pressure to aid you as you have proved you are a repeat offender.  If you do not further facilitate piracy of the product (as you state you have cleaned 'malware's from your machine that you claim may have been responsible; which I find suspect and unlikely) then you are unlikely to encounter further issues.

Requiring that you stay in that area to download another copy I find a fitting preventative measure and punishment with plenty of arm room and time for you to ensure you have your copy of the game should you be leaving to elsewhere.  Thus, we are satisfied that with this approach we have both attacked the problem and provided the support you are due by the money you paid.

Nearly all legal and reputable filehosting services?  Filesmelt, for instance.  I can't say I've encountered any malware from a file hosting site outside of checking Star Ruler out on The Pirate Bay and other (more typically illegally-used) such sites; not to imply you're a pirate and would therefore draw your information from your experience of such sites, of course.
