StardockDreamMaker.exe is a Trojan.

Is it a hoax? Or is my antivirus playing tricks on me?

I don't know if any of you are in the same boat as me, but after I downloaded "StardockDreamMaker.exe" the first time I ran the executable and my freeware antivirus (IOBit Security 360) says it's a trojan.  But when I scanned it with Microsoft Security Essentials, it says that there's nothing wrong with it.  Did the same with MalwareBytes AntiMalware and says there's no threats either. And I have a screenshot of IOBit Security 360's threat to prove it.  http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/3284/stardockdreammakeradwar.jpg

I don't know which program(s) to believe, but better play it safe and just get rid of it.  Just wanted to warn the community for those who love to tweak and make their own Dreams.

Will Stardock fix this for the next version (v4)?  Or maybe my AntiVirus is just playing tricks on me.

Has anybody else encountered this situation before?  Comments are welcome.

The "problem" is with the phrase "freeware antivirus".

You get what you pay for.

 

It will be a false positive that you can ignore.

....and get yourself a better AV ....

I would not take any notice of IObit Security. Stick with Microsoft Security Essential. Give an online scanner a go to make sure.

If I got a penny each time a 'free' virus scanner flagged a false positive on a Winstep application (and another every time someone publicly screamed 'bloody murder' before making sure and scaring everyone else), I would be living on my very own private island.

VirusTotal (free online virus scanner) is your friend.

Get used to it...lol. Avast (free) and Norton, and AVG(free) all flag my widgets and gadgets as malware. Using Microsoft Security Essentials now with no problems.

 

On my XP/Vista rig, using Panda Cloud anti virus (free) with no problems.

SD as a very public corporation that works with the likes of MS and many other reputable software and gaming enterprises, has way too much at stake to even think of distributing Virus laden Software. It's really just not in their best interest.

False positives are very common, especially with free virus scanners.

I'm surprised no one else mentioned this...you really don't want to run 2 anti virus programs.

One will screw with the other. Stick with MS Security Essentials and you'll be OK.

Dreammaker has been around for years, there is no type of viruses or spyware associated with it.
