Can't download anything

After downloading two screensavers yesterday I can't download anything any more. Every time I try downloading I get this annoying message:

Did you buy any Stardock products? if not.

non-buyers are limited at how much they can download and once you reach the limit your done

The answer is within the question and you know it, shame that in life one must pay for things, and work to get the money to do so too.

If you are unwilling to buy a single Stardock program or a Wincustomize subscription or even upload something other folk find visually appealing then once your download limit is reached it is byebye - " I will not subscribe, ever, never, in the near future, and there's no way it's gonna happen." With that attitude who cares about you?

You have made your intentions clear that you would never buy here "Simply said, I will not subscribe, ever, never, in the near future, and there's no way it's gonna happen" quoted, there are sometimes folk that help out here for aspiring artists, folk of benefit to the community but you sure ruled your case out with your negativity against everything - if you contributed something somehow things could be different. Get into the forums, look around do whatever to get involved - nothing has to be as it is.

You're allowed to make a Post on the Forums (free). You've been a Visitor since 12/09 (free). You've downloaded 222 megabytes of other people's work (free). You've contributed/submitted 0 megabytes to this site.

You're now complaining that you can't take more of other people's work for free without supporting the site that hosts it and expect that such a privilege be extended to you for exactly what reason? Oh yes... for telling us that you'll never subscribe so you'll never help support this site.

Snowy....the attitude riled me. Usually I'm a happy camper, but this site needs to have folks who'll help carry the load. Crying about having a limit to "free" (which is clearly posted) doesn't buy the bacon. I won't apologize for saying so. If someone sees the "Sorry, you've reached the limit" sign and asks about it...well that's one thing. Telling everyone off by saying "I'll never subscribe" is quite another.

btw... submitting walls is nice, but it won't buy a free ticket. There's no "Entitlement" until you buy some.

And surprised no one has actually mentioned this yet, but it's actually quite simple as they have mentioned...but to be quite blunt, TANSTAFL.

I have to agree with Doc at this point...clearly this person has absolutely no intentions on actually pulling his weight and helping out with the costs of running this site that he so clearly wants to leech from with the "gimme gimme gimme now, and for free" attitude, then so be it. You get what you pay for.

Arc9 attitude is defiantly wrong but there is a problem. I will likely by a stardock product or subscription in the future. That being said up until recently I was able to download things for free without limit. Now I am cut off. I even contributed uploads in the past of sysmetrix skins and docklets for OD . I removed them when 2 of my sysmetrix skins were pulled because I was accused of taking the graphics from another site. In this case I had submitted a sysmetrix skin based on a B&R watch. I did not take the graphics from the site and could prove otherwise. I was not about to argue and after one of the skins was pulled after being on the site for 2 weeks I removed the rest. You can say my attitude is wrong if you want or I am a poor sport but I did nothing wrong and now I am unable to download. I am not looking for for something for free without pulling my weight. It just bugs me a little that I now have no choice but to purchase something in order to download. By the way going to another site is not the answer. There are downloads you can only get here.

Heh...wow. That was actually really helpful, and I missed it on my first skim of the thread. I saw everyone posting about "buy a Stardock product," and all I could think was, "Um...I've got about 40 of them..."

New computer, and I hadn't ever logged into the site from it yet. I do have to say that it took me a while of searching the site before I came here and found this. No where could I find any warnings of a download limit (for those who hadn't purchased) or an explanation of how and why I had hit it. Might not be a bad idea for SD/Wincustomize to make that a bit more clear.

That said - Glad I've purchased stuff so that y'all don't think I'm a deadbeat when I DL stuff.

Signing in does not work for me. I have an account and use to be able to log in and downlaod. Now I get You are currently at your download limit.
