I am verily new on this site and this is my first post. I hope it is OK for me to do this but I would like to put out a challenge to all the many talented skinners here. My challenge is (if any would like to accept) to create a new WB theme based on the era of the 1500'S. I am not talking something that would look steampunk and not something that would look cartoonish. I have Da Vinci in mind and maybe based on his flying machine drawings. It would have to look as realistic as possible but not to over done or over the top. Ultimately it would look like it was created in 1500 and as if Da Vinci did it himself. I think this will not be an easy task but I know some of you can do it.

I came up with this idea after putting together this desktop,  https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=25896&libid=13 I thought it would be really cool to have an option for a theme that was not modern but something that looked ancient. I think many would like a theme like that and I know I would for sure.

So if you are a skinner and are looking for a new idea and a challenge than maybe you would like to take this on. If I could I would but I am void of talent or artistic ability. I seem to know only what looks decent for a desktop. Check mine out in the screenshots and see if you agree.

I hope someone will take this on and i look forward to seeing the results.

I like the idea a great deal...not that that's any help, as I am not a skinner.

an afterthought....would the fonts be in mirror writing?  ;)

and...do you have a link to the wall beyond the name of the artist?

I like the idea. It would make great subscriber suite or blind, much like Ankh. (hint, hint)

How about "Renaissance" for a name?

i like the idea too actually, i also really like those icons in the screenshot too.

The Wallpaper in the link is title Davinci's Butterfly and you can try this www.bgx.hu Not sure what mirror writing is but it would not matter to me so much what the font was as long as it complimented the skin.

Yes Wizard Renaissance sounds like a good candidate for the name.

Vampothica the IP is Ancient Legend

Thanks for the comments and ideas and keep them coming. I hope I stared a good thing here.

There's one that has been teased to us that I think would totally fit the bill on this request.  You can find it in this post:
https://forums.wincustomize.com/337288

it's this one:  http://www.draginol.com/images/SPYINGonStardockDesign_599B/image_8.png

Most of those skins have been released, but not that one....I think somebody should release it to the subscribers as a Christmas present.

k10w3 that is on the right track of what I am thinking. I wish I could see more to know for sure. I like the font but the color reminds me of the Vintage Tiffany theme.

Welcome to WC, JuniorCrooks.

Mirror writing was the code DaVinci used to hide his modern, and advanced thinking from the Vatican... perhaps you've heard them referred to as his Codices. When viewed in a mirror, his writing became comprehensible.

PoSmedley thanks for the screenshots. What I am looking for though is a WB theme and not a taskbar and start menu that looks microsoft. I also have that media player skin but I prefer winamp.

DrJBHL thanks for the welcome and explanation. Once you explained it I knew what you were talking about. I was confusing mirror writing with something else. I guess that is what happens when getting long in the tooth, lol

I'm all for it, a WB/IP/CFX, etc, based on DaVinci's drawings/ideas would be fantastic.  I'm into historical stuff and this would be right up my alley.

/me can see the startmenu being an old scroll rolled open. font in script style, possibly Parchment, Old english text, Edwardian script. etc..

There are some great ideas coming. Hope it continues and some industrious soul will take up the challenge. I think the first to do so will get some huge brownie points, not that anyone needs or wants them. I just think this could be a real winner if someone else will take a hold of my vision and make a skin that will be talked about for a very long time. Do not get me wrong. There are many great skins but there are none that fits the bill of what I proposed. At least I have not seen one yet. I hope I can see this as a WB in the near future.

Doc sees HG making a resolution independent DaVinci DX  (after his awaited LCARS).

Now that's what I am talking about Doc.

Just out of curiosity how difficult and time consuming would this theme be to create? Where would I begin if I was interested in learning how to do something like this. I am just thinking if no one is willing to create this theme maybe I would try. I just do not think I am capable but i really want to see this theme made. So much so I would be willing to pay to have it done and I am not monetarily wealthy by any means.

Well u can try the tutorials section of the forums to learn skinning techniques etc. As for being a cold thread, well tis Christmas eve as i write this, I'll wager most wont be on. Possibly off at families and or busy for the holidays. So dont get too bummed if it dont see much action for a few days etc. Give it time,, the community here is pretty giving.

Thanks for reminding me HG. I forgot all about this being Christmas. It does not have the same meaning for me now that I have moved from North America to the other side of the world. There truly is no place like home.

Well happy Holidays everyone.
