kinda like me -
but anyway, I find that a care quite a bit less about this list. When I originally created it, it (for the most part) reflected my opinions on skill level in the community. It also got a bunch of the folks that refused to play anyone other than random pugs playing in more games against other teams, etc. For instance, if I create a post and indicate that X people are the absolute best in demigod, then all of those folks that were omitted start to get a bit pissy. Sounds pretty arrogant, right? But those people that were omitted or classified as less skilled than X person now either say F your list or make an effort to prove that they are good or better than X. To prove you are better than X, you generally have to kick X's ass. This means you, who either are great or just simply think you are great, have to play against someone that I considered great to back up the claim that you are super, etc. Anyway, the list helped facilitate getting ALOT of people together would normally not play together, even if only for bragging rights if you took someone out.
Anyhow, as it stands today, I'm perfectly willing to accept that some players are better than me, some players that think they are but are not, some players that are on a relatively even level of skill with me, and those that are weaker players than me. In my mind, that is tier 1 (better than me), tier 1.5 (me/as good as me), tier 2 (not as good as me), and then a 4th category, which is for folks that aren't maybe someone else thinks is super, but I either disagree or simply haven't played much with them (unranked). So, pacov's list, if it was really just my list, would all be relative to me. Who is > pacov, pacov, < pacov, and UNRANKED. Thinking like that, we all could create our own lists, based only on our experience and opinion where we'd classify ourselves and those around us.
Anyway, the real downside about this list is that people HATE being classified as less skilled than another (ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY KNOW THEY ARE CLEARLY MUCH BETTER THAN PERSON X). There are 1 or 2 egos around here, eh? Anyway, I'm perfectly happy to close out this thread and leave it be or perhaps to get a new list going. I'm also perfectly happy if one of you folks with a tougher hide make their own list and have people weigh in on that. But your 1 warning is that you are inviting quite a bit of drama.
