Objeckdock is dead so sad

Whoever works for SD that post a picture of OD 2.0 promise a beta by end of the year. I am now convince the picture was fake or SD lied. All windows docks pretty much are dead Nexus, Rocketdock etc. and now Objeckdock.

Stardock claims Objectdock is the most popular dock and software they have. Still this doesn't make them want to show it any love, It really sad.

Stardock focus now is selling other software makers games and they just don't care for OD any more. We the die hard fan needs to face that and move on I think we will all feel better when we put Objectdock to rest.

If I am wrong and a couple years we see the vaperware OD 2 (The Duke Nukem of apps) then great.

I did NOT expect/presume/demand that it followed my changes of OS. They were MY choice, NOT Stardock's.

Unfortunately there are several people [a few] who presume 'development' must mean "a proggy will follow your choice of OS's ...no matter what they are or when they happen".

I think another point that's too often missed is that Stardock is not Microsoft, Adobe, Corel, etc.... that it is a small company with a smaller than Microsoft staff base.

Sure, I'd like OD's tray tools to run in Win 7 x64... Rightclick, also, but I realise that Stardock doesn't have the developer resources of much larger software companies and, therefore, it can not jump to my wants, needs and desires... just because I changed to an OS for which the apps were not written.

I am confident, however, that Stardock is working on ObjectDock and Rightclick, that these will be released for Win 7 x64 (and updated for alll current Windows OSes) as soon as is humanly possible.

Everyone has good points-- yes that can happen. Being Stardock has several apologists all over the forums I'll chime in on the complaint side. Been buying thier stuff since 2003 and love it. Have OD and loved it until Windows 7 64 bit and now can't use it nor much of anything else SD has in desktop software. Obviously, my opinion only but the desktop programs have become what seems like an orphan child to Stardock. I subscribe to their various newsletters via email and am bombarded by games right and left. It is no doubt a big part of their business now and can't be given a backseat to desktop apps, but SD was just plain caught with their pants down on Win 7 and 64 bit in particular when it comes to ddesktop applications. Object Dock not working, Deskscapes 3 releasd and not working on 64 bit. I owned a subscription to Object Desktop and let it expire recently because there is just too much wrong. Now with the win 7 64 bit problems even my standalone stuff isn't working. Impulse is not updating to let you know what is and isn't ready and on and on.

Deskscapes has supported 64 bit OSes since it was first released and Deskscapes 3 was no different and it includes Win 7 bit support.

Why do you believe it does not work on 64 bit?

OD and deskscapes both run well on my vista 64..

SD have to wark

i tested nexus and this was much greater than OD !!

64bits are greatly supported and transisition are much smoother

many more options for a better price

There are hundreds of posts describing the issues. Just because things seem all fine to you doesn't mean the software is without problems. If it works for you, then good for you. Posting comments like this doesn't help anyone, it serves only to anger people who (rightly or wrongly) feel they have unacceptable issues.

A fence is really nothing other than a multiline dock. This is why I feel fences should have been added as a new feature in objectdock rather than being a separate app.

why? it would be awesome to click a stack for the different icon groups from fences so u don't have to minimize stuff to get at it.

So you're saying that an app is useless if it has features you're not interested in? It'd be interesting to know what range of extremely specialized applications you have installed on your computer if that's the case. It's like saying illustrator is dead because they added an autotrace feature you'll never use.

Because when you start merging one program with another you end up with more bugs. I didn't care for fences to much since it causes problems with others apps and OD doesn't have that problem. I'd much prefer they didn't do it for that reason.

I don't see how that's any different from any other feature being added... There's always a risk of something going wrong. And like the current "stable" Objectdock, you can always just stay clear of the troublesome areas, and just use whatever features of the software that works for you.

I think Objectdock would have benefited from having a new "killer feature" like fences. There's a need for something like that to make it stand out among all the different docks available.

ObjectDock and Fences really are meant to do different things. I use both.

Could the features of Fences been incorporated in with ObjectDock, hard to say, probably need to ask the developers/programers that question.

In my opinion they are both good programs, not really sure if that would hold true if their features were combined.

I also use both. I don't agree with you in that they do different things though. The difference is in presentation, not function.

They'll not merge the two now anyway, it's too late for that, doesn't really matter if it would make sense or not.

i can't find the info now, but this was stated by stardock in the past that there would be some conectivity between the two. maybe when the first ads were put up for fences a long time ago, but i do remember seeing it from stardock
