primary is always disconnected.

ko its like this

primary is desktop : win xp home.

secondary is : win xp pro.

they are directly connected through a lan cable not using a hub or router..

 

i installed multiplicity pro in both comps..

did as the guide said...

 

in secondary after reboot the icons are blue and red...

but in primary no matter what i do it keeps saying disconnected.

 

 

for some reason synergy works.. this doesnt.. please help.

I have the same problem thou my setup is a little different:

Primary: Windows XP Pro Media Center SP3 - BitDefender
Second: Windows XP Pro Media Center SP3 - Windows Firewall

Instead I have mine connected through a hub

I installed them correctly using the guide and even used the wizard to connect them.
Also with BitDefender allowed both files access to any port on TCP/IP
Windows Firewall sucks so it let it through...

Now the cool part (not really). The secondary loads up perfect and primary never connects. But when I do a search to locate which computer I want to use there comes a Green checkmark on the one that has the program running on it. However when I try to connect nothing happens on either end.

I have tryed to run several things that I have found though out this BBS and nothing seems to work. Has anyone found a way to fix this or am I just stuck with this dead end?

hmmm,, actually..  My desktop also has Bitdefender..  the Laptop(secondary) had Mcafee..

the only reason i want this to work is coz this is the only one that allows drag and drop of files.. i  have to transfer close to 30 Gb of data.. and doing it through Network is taking ages..

 

so someone please tell us a solution

This'll probably sound crazy (I live "on the edge") XD  

The solution would be for this company to get their software up to speed (Ya Think?)

I've been running Windows 7 on my PC's since the first beta release and now run Windows 7(x64).

As Microsoft continues to "UPDATE" us with drivers to better the O/S, Multiplicity Pro continually gets worse.

  A large percentage of the problem is the "beefed up" security within the Windows 7 O/S.  The problem appears to be in the O/S NETWORK!

I run Norton Internet Security 2011 and Malwarebytes! They have never caused me any problems. The same can be said for my D-Link XTREME N DIR-655

router!

I don't have a solution, but I usually get things up and running again somewhere between the RainDance and praying to the Sungods! Homer

Hello:

I'm running Multiplicity v. 2.01 build 00030 on a Win7 Ultimate 64-bit (main), i7-3770 cpu@3.4 GHz, 16GB ram,

and Win8-64bit, i7-3770 cpu@3.4GHz, 8GB ram. On Win7 computer, I'm running PCTools Firewall, with all access for Multiplicity and the Win8 computer is using Windows Firewall.

The last couple of weeks, the Primary (WIN7) computer is saying that Multiplicity is disconnected, while the Win8 (secondary) is connected.I've uninstalled the program on the primary computer and re-installed it, but it does not connect. I checked the settings and both are connected through 192.168.1.75. The Stardock Multiplicity 2 Service is running in services as well as the TElnet service.

The updated (v.2 from v.1) worked fine when the newer version came out, but now it isn't connecting. I changed no firewall settings after installing the newer version. I am stumped. Any suggestions?

Please place a support ticket to support@stardock.com ; include your forum post.  Also, please download and run the following utility on EACH machine:

This is a tool that we use to gather relevant log files and basic information about your computer. Once the utility finishes running, please send back the .zip files it creates on the desktop.

Also, please send a screen shot of your MP2 grid on your Primary MP2 computer.
