After 2 years I'm back but campaign has disappeared.

After 2 years of not playing GalCiv2 at all I decided to have a game.

I installed it again from Impulse since this is not even the same computer I was using back them.

In impulse I have Galactic Civilizations II under My games but when I launch the game from "All Programs/Stardock Games/Galactic Civilizations II/Galactic Civilizations II" I get a launcher which says Galactic Civilizations II Dreadlords.

Also the manual is for Dreadlords, not for the original galciv 2.

But then in the campaing selection screen no campaign appears. Ok, I did not pay for dreadlords so I did not expect to get it, but what about the original galciv 2 campaing? I seem to recall there was one, but I'm not quite sure though.

So I am a bit confused.

Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords is the base game.

Not sure what is going wrong when you launch it, but there still is a DL campaign...

This reminds me of Jay Leno last night where supposedly intelligent people couldnt even remember the names of famous books. Its appalling how dense our society is becoming.

Same problem here, I had to reinstall windows so I lost the old installation, tried to install GalCiv 2 again, now the game runs fine but there is no campaign : the screen is empty.

have you found why and how get back the campaign ?

Here's the solution. My bad.

I forgot that the game came in a box - I actually didn't buy it from Impulse, just registered after buying it to donwload the update. So I took out the box and the two CDs and installed the game from the CDs, then updated with impulse and now the campaign is available again.

Impulse shows the list of both the games I bought from the platform and those I bought in a box and registered with it. In both cases I can "install" them from the interface, so I didn't even wonder where the game came from.

Why did Impulse allow me to download the game when I bought it in a box I don't know.

Its a nice facility Impulse has, similar to the fact that you can download Valve's games from Steam whether you bought it via Steam or not.
