Honest question, im not looking to start a flame war or anything, this is my second competitive game (my first was World in Conflict) and i really dont know why when we play competitive games we tend to become jackasses.
GalCivs2 Community is great and a lot of people i see in this forum that come from there are great, so if the problem is the competitive games why are does players not changing?, i guess it could have something to do with maturity but i cannot belive that must competitive players are guys with the mind of a 13 year old, so i doubt thats the correct answer.
So can someone please help me understand?
Not my experience that competitive games have bad communities, I played CSS casually for a long time and never had any issue with the clanners that dominated pub games. There were cheaters and griefers, but they were rare.
The official forums for nearly every game are poor, for example the Steam Community forums for TF2 are full of retards, but the majority of servers are populated by a more reasonable mix of people.
I don't see DG as being much different from this, the only reason you notice it is that a single idiot can ruin a game by leaving in DG, whereas they are inevitably replaced in FPS games.
Demigod isn't suitable for competitive play in its current state because it lacks several features such as arranged team ranked play, voice comms, balanced and variable but equally effective builds etc. I think the people who want to play Demigod at a competitive level have played a major part in this forum becoming quite hostile in recent times, but it isn't because they are immature or nasty, it's because the game lacks features they want and need to be able to play the game in the way they are used to. They have been frustrated by the core gameplay appearing to be catering to competitive play in the DotA vein, yet the surrounding features and lack of polish preventing it from taking place without considerable effort.
