Well, those "other people" are the ones who play this game very seriously, and most (if not all) of them are literally pros and know what's going on this game.

 

They are not stupid.

 

Edit : and I think I already posted the reasons why doubles are lame and boring as hell, right?

1. Appeal to reason, not to authority. 

2. This game is broken and seems abandoned by GPG. I highly doubt anyone takes this game that seriously. 

3. Still, I find myself and my team to be excellent at this game. I don't accept that any player or team is better until they actually beat me/us. 

4. Doubles are not lame, boring or OP. Saying otherwise more frequently does not make it so.

I do think doubles are largely boring and op, but to each his own eh?
