When I played warcraft3, I only added people who didn't play dota onto my friends list.

The moment they started playing the game (often for "lol it's fun to piss them off") you could see their personality take a nose dive. 

While there are a few areas of the dota community which are good, the rest are 7 year old ADHD losers on a suger high.  At least they seem that way.

Just a FYI, I have experienced some of the same extreme douchebaggery so common in DotA on our beloved Demigod (the few times I got multiplayer to function and connct me). The more you rely on your team the more you will raeg when your team is noob. Not that I'm one of them, but I def. see where it comes from. And if Demigod is expecting the game to involve teamwork, then you can expect the same ill treatment from your teammates when you screw up.

I played Dota for a bit long ago. And the only hero I ever took was the Rifleman because he was the easiest to play IMO. And I could spend 2-3 minutes looking up the recipes and then I sometimes buy the wrong ingredients. Then came the elitists and the droppers. And I was called trash names because I wasn't a good player.

Demigod made a few things that were easier for those like me.

1) Simpler heroes

2) No recipes

3) Community seems nice. (I'll wait and see because I haven't been able to play a single Pantheon/Skirmish game)

if demigod aint fixed by that time im probly leaving , and as another poster said dota has a lot on demigod atm , demigod has freshness/bugs dota has stability/balance.

and any competetive game gets a DB fanbase , its the way the world works

Dota got into cybersport, there are championships held worldwide and teams sposored by known brands host dota sections. This fact IS something to respect, and Demigod is far from this right now.

Dota community sucks no more than any well-grown internet gaming community sucks. Computer games ARE played by kids and teenagers. Internet DOES bring a freedom to troll, shitspeak and not receive a beating, thats what those suckers lack in everyday life when they get loled at, punched, kicked and humiliated and cant fight back. Or they dont get all of those, but they are not strong enough themselves to call someone a !*#$ and be able to fight back when seeing a fist flying into their face. 

Therefore, any gaming community will reach this stage at some point. It just takes time. And it is not DEGRADATION, you might think, "Oh right now Demigod community is so nice i hope it remains like that"... and later you will see "This community felt like any other, its not any better than Dota now...". Its just a matter of maturing. At first, community consists of people you can actually count, remember. You will regred to shit talk, or leave games alot, etc, because people will remember you, and wont play with you or wont talk with you. When this community will grow to the size of Dota community, it will pass this stage. You wont be able to remember it all, you will know like 1% or less people personally and therefore, you will be able to call someone a fooker and leave games and you wont loose much, opening opportunity for shit-talks and all that negative stuff you hate in Dota community. 

So actually, having trolls, idiots, shit-talkers is a sign of a mature, healthy internet gaming community, not a sign of something foul or rotten. 

If you want it to change - you should require registration with a passport or some sort. One person one account, period, until you die and get reborn and hit an age you can play demigod again... Stardock went this way, kinda, at least in the game you cannot create new accounts like in WC3, you must stick with 1 acc, the one you reg ur serial to. Thats the way to go. If you would also get only 1 forum account, or if forum account would show, is this person a legal game user (account bound to the game serial) or just a visitor (account not bound). That could help...

Demigod is the one and only now, hoping they add new stuff soon after solving the connection issues.

Dota, balance? Not really. Demigod is, though.

What? No. Starcraft and DoW2 are very different. First of all, SC doesn't have heroes, no cover, no capture points, and you build bases. The unit cap is much higher, etc...

What YOU did is compare apples to oranges, but DotA to DG is not apples to oranges. DG is like DotA's younger, more refined brother.

DoW and SC are 2 completely different games. They're RTS, end of story. They play nothing alike (and DoW2 IMO is compelte fucking trash, DoW1 was amazing). You make units and fight at the core.

DG and DotA are RTS-RPGs end of story. Beyond the fact that you control a hero and you kill creeps and destroy the throne/citadel they are nothing alike. At the core foundation they're the same that's it. If you think they're alike in any way outside of that you're kidding yourself.

Sorry, but it's primarily the fault of most DotA players. They are often a very unfriendly community to newcomers and Demigod has so far served as a haven to get people into this genre. Those who take sides typically want to shoo DotA jerks away and DotA players jump in to heckle Demigod players because their game has a lot less heroes or doesn't have a hugefan base (yet).

FPS fans don't usually fight this way between titles because usually there's just one guy on a map that gives you lip. It's just a problem with the DotA community in general. Not all players in DotA are like this but you'll never get into a game as a new player w/o getting kicked or massive hatred upon you while trying to learn the ropes of the 90+ heroes, and that's even after reading up on the game.

i havent even played dota... EVER.... and wtf do i need 80 heroes for...... oh wait... 100....

Yknow why i play games? To have fun. Playing dota is WORK.  Work i don't get paid for. So realy no thx. I'll stick to FUN.
