I am playing my first sandbox game (Ultimate Edition) against 6 AI on a medium map on a normal setting. 2 Civs have surrendered to me (including one I was allied with at the time). I am at war with Drengin and one other Civ (who is also at war with Drengin) and Drengin is on the defensive. The two Civs I am not at war with I am allied with. Judging from the star chart, I control about 40% of the galaxy, and Drengin about 25%.
Two questions:
1. Why haven't I won an alliance victory? The Victory Conditions screen says that alliance victory requires that I be allied with every Civ I am not at war with, and I am. Underneath that, however, it says I would have to be allied with Drengin, who I am at war with, to get an alliance victory. This seems contradictory.
2. For Influence victory, it says that 75% is needed to win and that I am at 0% because you can't win an influence victory while you are at war. On the other hand, if I check how Drengin is doing on the Victory conditions, it shows them at 70% influence. Since Drengin is at war with every Civ other than one of my allies, and controls less territory than I do, can their influence really be at 70%? Their territory was never more than 30% of the Galaxy. So is there more to an influence score than I know? I always have way more votes than they do at meetings of the UP.
Thanks.
