What happened with Adam and Eve is that in taking this fruit they took upon themselves the right to decide what is right and wrong. In essence they told God to shove off and that they could figure out the best way to live themselves and did not need Him who created them to tell them the best way of living. Basically like telling your mechanic you know more than him though he went to school and learned how and you dont know what a wrench does.

Yep. But 500 years ago mankind knew Sun rotated around the flat Earth, 150 years ago we knew no machine heavier than the air could fly, and 15 years ago maybe 5 your neigbours would read what you wrote. 

Just keep giving science enough money and it will provide more and more knowledge. With enough time we'll know almost everything about everything. However mankind will never know everything. Our universe doesn't work that way.

Considering the human body (and therefor God) is a deeply flawed, jack of all trades, master of none biomechanical device that eventually breaks of its own accord unless near constantly tended too over its short working life.  I have more faith in Babylon 5.

Wanna get slapped by several million tons of hurtling rock and the resulting mess from it hitting our homeworld?  Didn't think so.  GTF out of the gravity well then.  The colonisation of space, deep space and other worlds is the only sure fire way to make sure our species doesn't become extinct.  We may fight it, but survival is built in to us from the ground up (God was a blood thirsty survivalist to boot), therefor it will happen.  Perhaps not in my life time, but it will happen.

God is perfect.  Man is not.  Man is perfecting ways to repair the body, replace worn joints, musscles and organs. Both mechanical and organic in nature.

God knows all that there is to comprehend.  Man is learning, sometimes slowly sometimes quickly.

God said let there be light and stars were born.  Man is working on perfecting nuclear fussion, which is how stars work.

God created man.  Man is working on genetic engineering to create new forms of life.

We can't build a pocket universe in six days... YET.

If you are religious and believe in the existence of one or more Gods... God (The Gods) created Man (i.e. Human, Terran, whatever you want to call us) in his own image.  With everything those words, in that order, implies.  We will become Gods in our own right one day.

To suggest otherwise is to ignore the works of your God(s) and I believe that's a sin?

Science has proven that the water content in the atmosphere was much greater many years ago than today, especially when the earth was still in its formative years.

He change the languages because they were voilating his command to spread out over the earth, not settle in one massed area. The building of towers was for their own glory as one united people.

There is nothing magical about language, it is merely how we convey what we are thinking in aproximate terms.

 

That all depends on your definition of magic. The right words spoken at the right time can change the world. For instance if I say the word 'Cheeseburger' it might bring up old buried memories of you having dinner as a child or you might have flashes of McDonald's. You might have an eww moment because you can't stand the taste of beef or it might trigger a vegetarian outburst. Or it could make your stomach growl. Causing someone an experience just by speaking a single word is close enough to being magic for me.

To answer that question if you actually read; the people before me were; as you may say confused or really wanted to bust on religion like the evolutionist guy up top a bit but, yea this is supposed to be a technology debate but, as you can see if there is just a little bit of religion in there people really come down hard on it and to answer another question why there was bible verses was to answer or stop other people from making the same question over and over agian. Maybe our generation is becoming more and more dumbed down. You tell me. But understand this its always a good time to talk about religion because maybe it could answer some of your own questions.

To set matters straight, if I may, those creations stories, if you take out the time frame issue, are completely scientificly accurate. There is even a point when speaking of animals the word "kinds" is in loosely translated from a Hebrew that points to a base animal not a specific animal, in other words God created a family set not a species set. This allows for evolution to exist.

Alos the only point in the bible where the it can be twisted to say the Earth is flat is in the book of Psalms which is a book of poetry and song. In the book of Isaiah, a much more serious book, it uses a Hebrew word that means circle or sphere.

As to technology I feel God meant for us to explore the universe but that we need guidance so that we dont kill ourselves (Nuclear Holocast, global warming, and anything else no thought of yet). The whole garden of eden issue was not whether or not we could have knowledge but whether or not we had the right to choose for ourselves without the help of God what do with the knowledge we would discover.

And thus you come to yet another problem with this book. Not every version says the same thing. Here is what the one sitting in from of me says:

"1:In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2:Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3:And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4: God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5: God callede the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening and there was morning - the first day. 6: And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7: And so God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8: God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning - the second day. 9: And God said, " Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10: God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that is was good."

As you can see, there are 2 different instances which you have combined together. It would seem you must either A: concede one of bibles is incorrect or B: concede that you incorrectly typed up your version, and so it does say there is water above the sky.

My point of this post and my previous, however, is that no book is completely infallible. Using a single reference for a research paper will greatly diminish the possible scope and depth your paper could have; the same goes for life.
I have no problem with religion of any sort as long as they do not try to undermine the foundations of the society in which we live. These basic foundations are what make modern life what it is. They are why I am able to sit here on my computer and type over the internet. Things such as the freedom of speech, life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, freedom of religion, and our ability to use scientific reasoning to discover answers about the universe.

And now that we have gone on long enough, I suggest we both get back on topic instead of derailing this thread into a philosophical debate (that's what Newsvise is for after all).
