NOte on my above rant... I myself can run write and create a 64bit startmenu alternative and am about 60% complete while using alternatives so any talk that it cant be done is bogus. There are a lot of 32bit apps that work fine on 64bit ... (well written code usually can be)..
As it is, yes the startmenu alternatives are missing some stuff I still want... but its ok for now.
Reality is I might give up on stardock and look at either it or other docks as not a 'taskbar replace ...but a common apps dock.
Since thats the real use by most people... its ok..
But the objectdock is good enough to actually replace it in full if the devleopers would do it now.
Hire me, I can litterally guarantee I would have it in 3-6 months (if hired) .. as it is I spend a couple of hours a month on it... and get a lot done in those two hours.
Overall I doubt Stardock is spending a lot of time or $$ on fixing stuff, because they incorreclty think that 64bit is either too hard or not worth the time.
Yet it takes virtually no effort and often is nothing more than a compile switch if the program is written correctly.
Of course it depends on the code engine being used.
Most of my developement time is on working on a quicken alternative.
UPDATE:
Though still using a nonstardock alternative on startment (64bit) ... I am still researching a systray workable for 64 bit.
on 32 bit vista, I dont like the systray i found a while back.,..but all is ok..
As it is, there are stardock like alternatives that are seemingly as nice that work on 32bit and 64bit.
And the reality is that one of the devleopers of this was a stardock person before.
So its not simply a lack of capaility, but a mistaken idea of what customers want.
My mention of the company not going stardock way for a delldock like deal... simply was the customerservice and the attitude.
Fortunatley delldock like docks are actually common.. but the best ones dont have startmenu or systray like potential.
However with a ICON added you can often config what you want anyway...even on objectdock.
Such as using VISTASTARTMENU (which gives a ok startmenu like on click).
But then on the startmenu, u could always just click the windows button anyway.
which is how my own starmenu alternative worked... I didnt actually do any real code except call a routine to execute the cmd.
Easy newbie code to execute existing windows capability.
This is actually nearly intro level capability..
I am close (by summer) to having startmenu alternative that could be used by any docklike product .
Right now objectdock is the only dock left that I have issues with.
Ie; im trying to add some extras to it soley to make it objectdock like...
It works 100% on all altneratives.
