Interested in game... demo not available?

Hi,

I've purchased Sins of a Solar Empire, so I've kept an eye on the emails I've got about GalCiv II, as it looks pretty tempting. Today I decided I'd look into it and tried to download the demo. The link in the Downloads section takes you to:

http://www.download.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=Galactic+Civilizations+II+Gold+Edition+Demo&tag=404&searchtype=downloads

where it says no matching software found. It seems like the demo is gone? Is that right?

I've heard GalCiv II is a pretty hardcore game, so I'd really like to try before I buy. Can I get a little help?

Also, I have to say that all the threads on this forum about bugs, having trouble getting the game to play, update, etc. are off-putting. Is the game really that buggy to get working?

Thanks in advance for any help.

From my perspective, it appears to be mostly user error, if not outright stupidity, if you'll forgive me for being blunt.

That said, there are bugs, although most of them are not gamebreaking-other than the strange issue that cropped up with tech trading that was fixed...er, I know it was fixed internally; not 100% sure if the update made it out yet-I actually don't remember the previous game breaking bug.

It does appear that it's no longer on Download.com.  Hopefully someone can fix up that link.  In the meantime, here are some working links:

Filefront DL & DA

Gamershell DL & DA

I can't seem to find a Twilight demo, even though I could have sworn there was one.  Maybe it just doesn't exist?

don't be afraid by people who have problems on the forums

most people don't go out crying to everyone on the forums : "ho it works on my computer"

so the most you hear about are problems ...

the game works like a charm here, and being out there helping people, I rarely stumble upon unsolvable problems.

Thanks for the help, both of you!  I've downloaded the basic DL version from Filefront, so I really appreciate the link. Fiddled around with my first few turns. Pretty complex, but I'm getting the hang of it. (I'll read the Beginner PDF a little later).

It's good to hear about the problems being fixable and/or more anomolies than standard issues with all customers. Thanks for the 2 cents on that as well! :)
