A little problem.

I've been having a little problem with Galciv 2.

It's always happened, with DL, DA, and now TA.

It seems to happen more often in DA than DL, and more often in TA tha in DA, but that might just be me.

You have to restart the computer at the case to get rid of it, and if you don't it'll restart on it's own after about 30 seconds. The sound also starts to loop about 10 seconds into the problem. The screen goes all funny and sort of blurs/pixulates. I would take a screen print, but can't beacause of restart.

This particular one, the crash happened in the shipyard, but it can happen on almost any screen, although very rarely the main view.

Well your display drivers are old - but I don't think that is the problem as I run TA with the same driver version for a 7800GS. Wouldn't hurt to update them though, just in case you've got a corrupted file somewhere. While you're at it, might as well do the sound driver too (only persistent crash I've had in 2+ years of GC2 was due to a corrupt sound card driver).

From the description of the problem I would say it is either a bad driver, an over-heating issue, or worst case - a hardware failure. You are most likely getting a BSOD, but your system is configured to auto-restart instead of displaying the message. If driver updates don't stop it happening, change settings as follows:

Navigate to the Control Panel in Windows XP by left-clicking on Start, followed by Settings and then choosing Control Panel.

In the Control Panel window, open System.

Note: In Microsoft Windows XP, depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the System icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View.

In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.

Locate the Startup and Recovery area and click on the Settings button.

In the Startup and Recovery window, locate and uncheck the check box next to Automatically restart.

Click OK in the Startup and Recovery window.

Click OK in the System Properties window.

From now on, when a problem causes a BSOD or another major error that halts the system, the PC will not automatically reboot, and will display information relating to the failure on the screen. Rebooting manually will be necessary after noting the error so that you can google it afterwards.

By the way, you were right about the Blue Screen Of Death. Just checked if it did.
In addition, something that backs up the "Something to do with the computer" is something I just remembered. I sometimes have a crash that is almost identical to this one when playing Black and White 2.
