Vista skining working.. the FIRST time! But cant make it work again after switching skin

Hi I I’m a long time fan of Stardocks Work.

The thing is I just switched to Windows Vista and having problems with windowblinds..
When I first installed it I could apply a skin. But when I choose the third skin it will not apply! It SEEMS like it does but after it says wait like it usually do after you apply a skin nothing happens. It just looks the same as before applying the skin.

I have to restart the computer in order to make it "apply" again, if I don’t nothing happens when I press "apply my changes".. Any ideas?

You say you used apply my changes...that is not used to apply a skin ...only changes like animations used or toolbars ect....Use ..apply this skin now..found on the large image of the skin itself.

It's My Secret

MySecret: The 2 options do exactly the same thing.

After you find it does not apply, are any apps showing as not responding in taskmanager?

I had the same problem until I selected the Windows Aero blind (the default Vista theme). After switching to it once, whatever was hung up released and I've been able to switch to any other blind I want. Sounds weird, but it worked.

Hi Raider 66!

Thank you for your reply.

I think you might be on to something here. If I try to recall I think the issue started when I tried to activate Aero. I have removed the windows Aero from my system so there might be a conflict there? But I KNOW that it SHOULD work anyway! Since I got it to work with at least two skins before this happened..

I tried to activate the Aero in blinds ( Blinds exits) and then restarted again to activate another. Still no success...

What do you mean by you have removed Windows Aero from your system?

Guessing...Sounds like someone did a reg hack to get Aero working on Vista Home basic perhaps?

I use Vlite to strip the OS of all the things i don’t use. Like Aero. My Graphcard in my laptop doesn’t support it. And since I got blinds.. Who needs it at all:)?

Laptop information:
HP Compaq NC4200
520MB Ram
Shared memory Intel 915GM

HAVE run it so I know it SHOULD work! But something denies me the blinds experience;)

When i try to apply the changes to the skin, windows just goes to the "windows classic" mode and stays there, nothing works (even when i change skin and click apply). Windows runs fine, and to set it back to aero i have to go through the whole right-click process.

That's usually what happens when the trial period runs out.
