ShipYard Sandbox

I have searched a bit and couldnt locate any info, so I am asking here.

Is there the possibility of having a Ship Designer that will allow you to select all the components to build a ship, and save them, so that when you have reached the appropriate tech levels you can simply choose them? Often times I dont want to play the game up to the full tech levels, and then just spend days designing ships... it would be nice if there was some sort of Ship editor/creator that was accessable outside of the game... similar to a map editor ...

Thnx

Yes, if you save your ships using unique names, upgrading under different names.

But the problem is that in each game you play, there will be differences in how you progress technologically. This is a pain in the ass because you will be expecting certain ships to appear as the game progresses, and they don't!

Your better off saving ships you design with no active components. That way, they will ALWAYS appear as soon as you develop their hull type.

With DA, you can simply use the template option to save a 'clean' copy of any design you make, so you can reuse the design later as soon as that hull size is available.

I guess the thing is that I would like to design ships, regardless of if the tech is researched for them... even if I couldnt use them..

Example : at work ... I have some spare time that I could load up the ship editor / creator without having to have the game going on.. and create some ships.. that I could then later import and use... once the appropriate techs have been researched...

Perhaps this is available in DA, as I havent gotten it yet.. but if not it would be a nice way to design some ships, or have some friends of mine design some .. even though they are not playing the game.

I see what your saying, i do agree but i don't know what program shell could be used to run the editor outside of the game?
