Party Votes

Every now and then there is a party vote as to which
party stays in power. I guess that I am the federalists.

I have never lost a vote. I've noticed that sometimes there
are a 100 votes, sometimes less.

Anybody know what happens if you lose the vote, do you contine
but with the characteristics of the new party? Or do you
lose the game?

Is the vote based solely on morale or other factors?

IIRC, when you lose an election, you lose your party bonus, and if the election was won by the opposing party to yours, you also get a penalty on top of losing your bonuses. It is only based on morale though, so it's very easy to never lose an election.

Not only morale, but morale the turn of the election if I recall correctly. You can keep morale about 50% until they tell you next turn is an election, back off the taxes, and win every time. I'd say this was an exploit that needed fixed, but upon contemplating the state of politics in America I'd say this short-term memory issue is about right if our voting public is the example they were using for coding this in the game.
