Also, I'm still not sure on how to install the skins.

It's not the backgrounds that I want to change. It's the theme. I found one called SystemStats or something like that and I just want to install it and use it.

That wouldn't be a theme, that would be more of a docklet.

That explains how to install docklets, but Systats is a little different if I remember correctly. In the systats download there should be a file with exact instructions on how to install.
