I was wondering how hard it would be to allow players to adjust the victory conditions when they're setting up a custom game.
Right now, I can change the Prefs.ini file to turn off AITechVictory, TechVictory, CulturalVictory, and AlliedVictory - and they then show correctly in the game setup for 'Normal' as disabled. I'd like to be able to play an all-out slugfest without some other strange rules built in like you get with the premade scenarios.
Custom races:
The racial points seem fair (IMO, 2-4 more wouldn't hurt a custom race), but I'd like to be able to enhance Miniaturization and Logistics if I want to. Both are fairly valuable and not options when creating a race. Thus, I end up manually editing my racial profile to include these if I want them.
Technology seems really tight for a custom race. You're almost guaranteed to start behind the AI players here.
Ship building screen:
1. Currently, the custom ships I make don't carry over too well from game to game. I don't mind rebuilding new ships for each of the construction types, but seeing what Vogons make of my Calamari designs is eye-wrenching, not to mention that the ships simply don't show in the build screen. Only prefabricated generic ships seem to correctly display when selected. Others just appear as empty space until I chose to upgrade them.
2. Upgrading ships seems overall very buggy. I can remove detail pieces, but not functional components. This seems to kinda defeat the purpose. I'd love to be able to craft a fighter ship and keep modifying the design - swapping out systems, engines, armor, and guns - without having to rebuild the core design of it every time. I don't think I've actually every successfully 'upgraded' a ship design without starting over from scratch.
3. Even if I do pull detail pieces off an old custom ship, I can't seem to add any new ones back on - the game insists there's no space to add the component, even though it's a zero value part. If I upgrade a prebuilt design with space, the weight values of components seems very wrong, often showing 7 or more light. The actual weights of the parts remains correct, though, it just doesn't display on the tally correctly.
4. Icons displayed below the ship design don't always match the actual parts. This seems to mostly affect functional components (maybe because I add them last?).
5. Cursors for the name and description are still wonked.
